One more year and reassess. Then either keep or fire them all. DO NOT let them get by with new Coords in hope of…all that does is set us back an extra TWO or THREE years! if the next Coord is the savior, give him the HC job!

Someone on here made a good point that if we dump after three years of “the greatest rebuild since the post-depression era”, most coaches will consider us a bit of joke and it may limit our choices

so for me it’s the same staff and 12 more months of brown liquor. However, be forewarned…4-8 or 5-7 next year and cgc will be talking about the corner starting to be turned, etc, etc. so it’s a slippery slope!

anyone eve thought of hiring a former successful POWER 5 coach who’s over 15 yrs old and not carrying pom-pons and can coach em up, teach em poise and make in-game decisions…..asking for a friend..

I do not believe this. There are many coaches who will take this job and take it for less than what Collins is making. Candidates? I haven't even looked but take the top two teams in the MAC, Mountain West, Conf. USA and AAC - heck at this point take the top 5 coaches in FCS. Good coaching is good coaching.

There are absolutely zero coaches that we’d want who would coach for less than what Collins makes.

"that we'd want". Who is "we"? As I peruse the page I note most folks seem to want ABC - Anybody But Collins. By the time the stands are absolutely empty we will realize it is costing us more to keep him than to dump him.

Two more years. The buyout is lots better.

And you wouldn't join a club that would have you as a member.

Hey, I think I found your picture on the Interwebs.

This has been proven to not be a very smart way of electing someone. Let's hope the people in charge aren't complete dumbasses.

Maybe you weren’t around for the hiring of CGC or CPJ. There is no “anybody but X” We have very opinionated fans who won’t be happy unless “their” guy is the next hire. So, no, there isn’t anyone “that we’d want” at the price that we could pay.

We should not keep Coach Collins one more year. The program is getting dramatically worse from week to week. And we have played a lot of bad teams this year.

And I don't mean the play on the field. That's pretty consistent. I mean the negative impact this is having on Tech attendance and other signs of program health.

Somebody needs to calculate how much money we'll lose by keeping Coach Collins another year, based on paid attendance being 20,000 per game instead of 45,000.

Of course, we'll have a big payday when Georgia comes to Grant Field. It's too bad 45,000 of them will be wearing red. It might be the hardest to get ticket in the history of Grant Field.

I don't think we have a strong enough AD or enough caring wealthy boosters to fire Coach Collins this year. As a person, I really feel sorry for him. I bet he wants this to be over, too. Poor man.

Agree with this, but I think we need a new DC regardless. We are pathetically bad on that side of the ball and can’t even blame it on players who were recruited for the option like the offense can. We look stupid week after week and continuously let teams set season highs against us.

This defensive staff, in its current state, is finished as far as I’m concerned. We’ve regressed, even with a significant upgrade in DL talent.

Since Collins has shown in press conferences so far this year that he is totally uninterested in what the fans are saying or thinking (ignoring the question entirely or shrugging it off with a visible smirk on his face before leaving), I hope he HEARD what the fans are thinking yesterday during and after that typical 3rd down time out and ultimate failure in the red zone. Even from my seat in the upper east, I could hear the loud boos coming from the fans in the lower west, when the time out was called, when we jumped off on the ensuing 3rd down play, when the ultimate 3rd down play was a total waste, and after the 4th down play (I don't remember if it was a FG or a wasted play). I can't ever remember hearing Tech fans booing our team and/or coaches in the 59 years I have been attending Tech games, but they were loud yesterday, and I was joining in the chorus.

I have heard some of this occurred in Chan’s last season, too. If so, he deserves an apology compared to this.

Simple math on ticket sales only, seat/section fee revenue loss would add to the estimates.

Every 5K drop in attendance based upon an average ticket price of $50 would be $250K per game x 7 games (not figuring in MB games in this analogy) = $1.75M.

In the scenario of dropping to 20K from 45K, $1.75M x 5 = $8.75M per year.

This is why, unless big money ponies up for the buyout, Collins won’t be going anywhere until the end of the 2023 season, when the buyout amount drop from 8 figures to 7 figures.

I sat in the West stands yesterday. I looked across at vasty empty sections of the East stands. I saw scattered people in the North and a mostly desolate South end zone stands.
Even the folks around us were vocal about the utter lack of coaching or coaching acumen on display Saturday from the Tech sidelines.
Unfortunately, the contract is such that we are stuck with an abysmal and completely overmatched staff. Collins can fire the coordinators and make other changes but really, that's just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. He has steered this program into a sea of icebergs and he has no way out.
He needs to go down with the ship.

Also, as much blame as Stansbury bears for this onerous contract, where in God's name are the GTAA or school attorney to review these contracts before they get signed?

Now that you mention it, I think you might be right. I seem to remember now our final game with VT in Chan's last year, where some booing (no idea now how much) erupted.

Coordinators don't typically have multi-year contracts, do they? Assuming not, there's no reason to hold on to a DC who has no answer to what the opposing team is doing nearly every game.

I don't think it's primarily a scheme issue, but a coaching/organizational one. Give someone else a shot (ideally not a current assistant), and if things don't work out, the entire staff goes after next year.
