Let it play out

Coordinators don't typically have multi-year contracts, do they? Assuming not, there's no reason to hold on to a DC who has no answer to what the opposing team is doing nearly every game.

I don't think it's primarily a scheme issue, but a coaching/organizational one. Give someone else a shot (ideally not a current assistant), and if things don't work out, the entire staff goes after next year.

My understanding is everyone is year to year except Key

Agree with this, but I think we need a new DC regardless. We are pathetically bad on that side of the ball and can’t even blame it on players who were recruited for the option like the offense can. We look stupid week after week and continuously let teams set season highs against us.

This defensive staff, in its current state, is finished as far as I’m concerned. We’ve regressed, even with a significant upgrade in DL talent.
I was able to catch the end of the game yesterday right before the INT as we were driving. The thing one thing that stood out most to me was our lack of foot speed in the secondary. When their QB ran for their last TD our guys looked slow to react and/or just slow. What gives with these guys?

Simple math on ticket sales only, seat/section fee revenue loss would add to the estimates.

Every 5K drop in attendance based upon an average ticket price of $50 would be $250K per game x 7 games (not figuring in MB games in this analogy) = $1.75M.

In the scenario of dropping to 20K from 45K, $1.75M x 5 = $8.75M per year.

This is why, unless big money ponies up for the buyout, Collins won’t be going anywhere until the end of the 2023 season, when the buyout amount drop from 8 figures to 7 figures.
20K is 5K*4. Not 5K*5.

Yeah, we seem slow to react and slow. That’s death when you’re also habitually out of position and can’t make up ground. I know nothing about S&C, but is it possible that we sacrificed speed in an effort to bulk up and look good getting off the bus?

Collins will fire a few, claim a tweak is needed, hire a few, and claim greatness will result. And will keep losing for two more years before anything changes.

Gonna be a super exciting offseason with lots of new juice. I used to get super excited for the start of the next season. Now it’s just a relief to get the next painful season in the rear view mirror so we can get a little closer to the end of this grueling catastrophe that is now GT football. Two more years of pain minimum. Then we get to see Tstan at work again. Oh boy.

I can't ever remember hearing Tech fans booing our team and/or coaches in the 59 years I have been attending Tech games, but they were loud yesterday, and I was joining in the chorus.
Booing the coaches is fair game. They are highly compensated for their jobs. Booing the team is not OK. Problem is, you may say you’re booing the coaches but the team doesn’t know that. They just hear the boos.

Hope booing the team made you feel better.

If you don't think the players know what's going on, then what that says to me is that we have stupid players. I do not believe they could possibly be happy with the way things are going

Since Collins has shown in press conferences so far this year that he is totally uninterested in what the fans are saying or thinking (ignoring the question entirely or shrugging it off with a visible smirk on his face before leaving), I hope he HEARD what the fans are thinking yesterday during and after that typical 3rd down time out and ultimate failure in the red zone. Even from my seat in the upper east, I could hear the loud boos coming from the fans in the lower west, when the time out was called, when we jumped off on the ensuing 3rd down play, when the ultimate 3rd down play was a total waste, and after the 4th down play (I don't remember if it was a FG or a wasted play). Lots of respect to you sir. I’ve been attending UGA games for 53 years. You and I both have seen a lot of football and some great GT / UGA games. This time of year I think about some of the JV games I attended on Thanksgiving day. The baby jackets vs. the bull pups. My dad who was also a UGA guy used to tell me about the great Bobby Dodd and how he beat UGA 8 years in a row. As odd as this may sound coming from a UGA guy I do hope GT’s football program can return to being a really strong program. It’s obviously an Engineering powerhouse and great academic school so it should have a football team to match. I also understand why GT HATES all things UGA but we aren’t all stupid rednecks….here’s to the old guys :)

They are slow to react and slow. A brutal combination.

He was booed during his PSA for not driving drunk.
That was just one of the reasons he was booed. Numerous times he tried to sit on a lead and lost. He always stated that his game plan was to get ahead 7 points up and hold the other team. Do you not remember the 2008 ACC championship vs Wake Forest! We had the premier WR in the world and down a touchdown and he just ran the ball trying to tie the game. Literally there were Tech players on the sideline going crazy because Gailey did not try and win that game.

Well, yes, and actually no... Wake's game plan in that game was to simply drape four defenders on Calvin Johnson all game and dare us to do... something... And the ööööass refs never threw a flag for the most blatant holds in the world. So, Nix went and did Nix things.

Ugh, what a öööö game.
