Let's say CCG's gone...

who would you want in here to replace him and why?
Being a Gator fan, I would probably want one of UF's assistants to come in and take over GT. Although that would never happen. But then again we are hypothetically.

Promote Tenuta. It would be better to keep him and have him as head coach then for someone else to pick him up as a head coach later on.

and the correct answer is Jimbo Fisher to compliment JT.

Tenuta is a great DC, but I don't know about Head Coach...I'd rather take my chances with Jimbo Fisher and I'm sure Rad would to.

Please hire Gailey! final 3...keep your fingers crossed!

Thinking outside the box for a list of candidates:
Lane Kiffin, OC at USC
Gary Crowton, OC at Oregon
Jim Leavitt, HC at South Florida
Matt Cavanaugh, OC at Pitt
Skip Holtz, HC at ECU
Chris Peterson, HC at Boise State
Art Briles, HC at Houston
Jerry Moore, HC at Appalachian State
And, I would love to see us make a run at these established Head Coaches:
Schiano at Rutgers, Ferentz at Iowa, Spurrier

I'm surprised no one is chomping at the bit to get Paul Johnson. I have a family of Bama fans, and I tried for weeks to convince them that they should be going after Johnson instead of Saban.

Any thoughts?

What about Charlie Strong, the Florida DC and Assistant HC. He did a helluva job with that unit.

Bobby Ross hasn't done a whole lot at Army. O'Leary has certainly had some ups-and-downs at UCF.

HC - O'Leary
OC - Friedgen
QB's - Godsey
TE's - Brent Key
DC - Tenuta

Why would you think Fridge would come back for an OC job? Especially with Calvin gone....

Easy answer: Bobby Ross. The reasons are obvious.

Bobby Ross, who just turned 70 years old, will not get offered again and he woud not come. He was talked to about the HC job before we talked to Gailey and he had no interest in coaching at this level of football again.

We also went after Friedgen at that time and he used it as leverage to get more money from Maryland and lock in for 10 years...of course that was followed promptly by two losing seasons.

Tenuta will not be it (99%)...I have already mentioned that a bunch of times as to why. Plus...he will likely not stay as DC under anyone other than Gailey. He may stay one more year because of 8 returning starters and he loses 7 seniors after next year...gives him a "peaking" year defensively and his kid is a senior in high school next year.

O'Leary as a head coach again at GT....falls directly in the never will happen category. Heck...he cannot even lead Central Florida at this point...they are having serious issues on the field and internally as he continues looking for "yes men". He is getting used by younger coaches as a stepping stone just as he uses other people. Key and Godsey could very well end up at GT one day in the future.

One name you could see back on the flats one day is Glenn Spencer....Asst. HC and DL coach for Roof and he loves GT and the state of Georgia to this day. It would not be as a head coach.

You will probably see names like Jimbo Fisher, Skip Holtz, etc.

What makes you think we can afford Schiano, Ferentz or Spurrier? Jerry Moore will retire at Appy State, he's pretty close now.

Boise State Offense + Tenuta Defense = Lots of Wins

Tenuta is a great DC, but I don't know about Head Coach...

I'd go with Tenuta in a heartbeat but would not award a longterm contract until he proves his abilities as a HC. I don't like locking into extended HC contracts, even if it has implications to stability in recruiting. The HC needs some incentives to perform and produce results for Tech. For the amount of $$$ they get paid, I don't think that is asking too much.
