Lets see some official debunking of the "PJ doesn't Pass" tripe

Hasn't PJ stated in the past that he would pass it more if he had a better quarterback? I believe he would pattern his style of offense around the talent available. I seriously doubt he would run the flexbone all day long in the ACC, but I'm sure there would be variations of Navy's offense. I think he would adapt, though, much like Hatcher has at GSU.

i like the strategy - hire johnson to run hatcher's offense. (sarcasm)

sorry to break it to you, but in 4 years if we are running the TO we will be a 4-5 win team. Kids want to come to show of skills for the NFL.

Yeah, because Ralph's offense after 4 years at Tech was terrible.

the Wing T has 2 wing backs/slot backs whatever you want to call them and a full back, just as the flexbone you show has. I played both wingback and full back in this offense...but the full back is basically a tail back. Lots of East-West running from the wings/slots, its all about getting on the corner, i.e. speedy defenses kill.

So the main difference is the presence of the halfback?

I have no idea, thats why I asked! I beleive the formation is the same looking at your chart, maybe the difference is just what the positions are technically called. Three running backs, similar to the wishbone, only the two other backs aren't in the backfield but on the "wings".

From what you're describing it sounds like wing-t as you ran it had an extra back instead of a second WR.

Single Wing-based offenses are also more unbalanced, I think, than the true flexbone.

Like every formation, there's textbook and how it's run, and they don't always match up.

I think the only thing we know is what PJ has done already. And that's have a very solid football team wherever he's been. I don't think you can say PJ will or won't do anything. He has never been given the chance to really show anything else. If he was chucking the ball around at Navy like a Pac-10 team, they would be horrible. But he's also shown flexibility to go to a more pass oriented game when needed. So far, he has done what has worked with the personnel he has on hand.

He obviously has a base 3O offense to date. I don't expect him to go away from that entirely, but I'm going to give him a chance to show us what he thinks will work. He's a winner, and I have no doubt he will win at Tech too.

Johnson or Hatcher would be

homeruns. Johnson's offense would be similar in run/pass ratio to WV, and probably similar in success as well. Has WV had the 5* QB recruits to beat UGAg, nope. Have we, nope. But, who beat them, the team with the innovative offense that runs the heck out of the football and put points on the board - WV. The beauty of Johnson's system is that you don't need the 5* QB to WIN. How many of those have we had over the past 50 years anyway? Joe and Goose were both successful in Ralph's system. Our QB will be successful in Johnson's system. JUST WIN BAYBEE! What the crap does it matter the ideal run/pass ratio. WV doesn't seem to care and look at that offense. Wake is another great example. I think Johnson will be very similar to Grobe at Wake who did more system running to win until he had the QB to do better and then he won the ACC.

The bigger concern here is DEFENSE!!!!!
We've got to get him a great D-Coord. Pay Tenuta whatever to keep him. That will WIN!

Actually, I think Tenuta would be a heckuva HC as well. He'd surprise people with how he could improve the offense. He's brilliant at strategy, x/o, and the players would play well for him.

So, I'm thrilled it's down to Johnson, Hatcher, and Tenuta. That is the best scenario possible and makes sense that the good folks we have in high places have brought it down to this.
