Bare in mind, I have listed these head football coaches in no particular order.

1. Jamey Chadwell, age 44, Currently the head football coach at Coastal Carolina (They are 9-2 this year) Annual salary: $850,000. Despite his young age, he has been a head coach in college for 12 seasons (at 4 different schools). Total Head Coaching Record: 88-44.

2. Shawn Clark, age 46, Currently the head football coach at Appalachian State (They are currently 9-2 this year) Annual salary: N/A. He has only been a head coach for 2 full seasons and coached App. State in a bowl game in '19, which they won. Total Head Coaching Record:19-5

3. Chris Klieman, age 54, Currently the head football coach at Kansas State (They are currently 7-4) Annual salary: $3.1 Million. He won 4 National Titles at North Dakota State. Total Head Coaching Record: 91-28.

4. Kalen DeBoer, age 47, Currently the head football coach at Fresno State (They are currently 8-3) Annual salary: $N/A. He coached Sioux Falls to 3 NAIA Championships. Total Head Coaching Record: 78-9

5. Billy Napier, age 42, Currently the head football coach at Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (They are currently 10-1) Annual salary: N/A. He coached at Clemson, under Dabo, for several years. He grew up in Chatsworth, GA and his father was a head football coach. Total Head Coaching Record: 38-12

6. Hugh Freeze, age 52, Currently the head football coach at Liberty (They are currently 7-4) Annual salary: 3 Million. The drawback to him is he was involved in recruiting violations while at Ole Miss. Total Head Coaching Record: 67-42.

7. Dave Doeren, age 50, Currently the head football coach at NC. State (They are currently 8-3) Annual salary: 3.2 Million. Total Head Coaching Record: 86-53

8. Jeff Traylor, age 53, Currently the head coach at UTSA (They are currently 11-0) Annual salary: N/A. He only has two years of head coaching experience, however. Total Head Coaching Record: 18-5

9. Dave Clawson, age 54, Currently the head football coach at Wake Forest (They are currently 9-2) Annual salary: 2.1 Million. Total Head Coaching Record: 139-126

10. Luke Fickell, age 48, Currently the head football coach at Cincinnati (They are currently 11-0) Annual salary: 3.4 Million. Total Head Coaching Record: 52-21. Of all of these on the list, Coach Fickell would be my top choice for Tech to hire. However, he would be the most difficult to agree to come to Tech, too. Schools like LSU would have more money and appeal to lure him. Nevertheless, it could be possible.

As some have said recently, it will cost Georgia Tech more NOT to fire Coach Collins than to keep him on for another year or two. While we still have talent, the time is now to get someone who knows what they are doing. If not, we will lose more money, lose talented players via the transfer portal, and our entire athletic program will suffer as a result. This is the worst situation I have seen Tech's football program in my lifetime. I'm too young to remember clearly the period from 1979 to 1981.

Ironically, former Tech players are a big part of this mess. Todd Stansbury, the current AD and the main culprit for this horrible situation, played for Coach Curry in the early 1980s. Brent Key, currently Offensive Line Coach and Assistant Head Coach, played for Coach O'Leary in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Marco Coleman, current Defensive Line Coach, played for Coach Ross on the 1990 National Title Team. Nate Burton, Current Co-Defensive Coordinator/Safety's Coach, played for Coach Gailey in the 2000s. Will Glover, current Quality Control Specialist/Offense, played for both Coach O'Leary and Coach Gailey. Errin Joe, current Associate Director of Player Personnel, played for Coach Johnson. And even Tashard Choice, current Running Backs Coach, who played for Coach Gailey in the 2000s, and has actually done a good job with our running backs is a apart of this unsuccessful staff.

I can't imagine how much it bothers ALL of these former Tech players to see how bad Tech's football team has become. However, that may be our saving grace. They all want Tech to succeed. Maybe, they can come together and for the good of the program each offer some of their salary to help pay for a coaching change. Or unite together and talk with wealthy Tech donors to persuade them to put up the needed money to dismiss Coach Collins of his duties and hire a good head football coach.

GO JACKETS!
great list...I would add Willie Fritz, Jeff Monken and Ken Niumatalolo...

These two look interesting.
I have to look this guy up but his record jumps off the page.
Kalen DeBoer, age 47, Currently the head football coach at Fresno State (They are currently 8-3) Annual salary: $N/A. He coached Sioux Falls to 3 NAIA Championships. Total Head Coaching Record: 78-9

Maybe Billy could like the idea of building a big rivalry with his mentor.
IDK. My donations won't raise any ears.
Good I.D. on DeBoer. I also think Moorhead is one of the best offensive coaches in the country. That was he who sliced and diced Ohio State this year. Personality wise he's a bit sketchy but at this point coaching ability trumps selling used cars.

if this was CGC, it would be “I’m so proud of our guys for battling against an elite opponent. I’m excited to have the lead. I’m going to go in that locker room and hug our guys and tell them I love them for their effort and intensity.”

I don’t see any mention of juice or competition. Not listening.

He’s only good at self promotion. He’s rode one decent season at Austin Peay about as far as it can go. We don’t need another hype man. He’s 14-16 (.467) at Charlotte and 27-37 (.422) overall. No thanks

Why would any guy off that list come to GT and work for $3MM tops, when they can stay at their current jobs that pay $2MM and up and keep winning on their level, then compete for a job that pays on avg. $5MM-$6MM per year and up?

Brohm (sp?) went from W. Kentucky to Purdue in rapid time and now makes about $6MM per year, avoiding places like GT made that ascension possible.

What do you think the Agents for the Guys above are telling them?

Thanks for the list, I like Dave Clawson and feel he may consider GT as it would be a substantial pay raise for him based on what he's making at Wake Forest.
He’s done a nice job at Wake. And if Tech can’t out spend Wak we should just close the shutters now. Coaches make decisions regarding moves on more than just $$ though. And could stinking Stan handle the embarrassment of being turned down by Wake’s coach? Should be able but….

A really close friend just finished playing for Monken in the fall of ‘19. He is now flying Apaches and is a great young man. His family is in our church; he played for my son and had him for AP Statistics.

Their take on Monken was very mixed. He was a good coach. He and his staff were great teachers. Army won more with him than they likely would with any other coach.

On the other hand, he had a prickly personality. It was really easy to get in his doghouse, and he could be stubborn about keeping you there. He could get negative with the team, a player or an assistant easily.

All of that is to say he sounds a lot like CPJ. I think Collins gets a solid D so far as our Coach. But, he should get another year. Five wins gets him a fifth year. By year six we have to be bowl bound. And, after that any turns back to losing seasons should end his tenure. But, if he is fired, I am not thrilled about Monken. Let’s take a shot at a young, good coach who will run an exciting offense, hire a good and aggressive defensive coordinator, and do well with parents, players, alums and media. It is not time to decide we have to be tied to the triple option. It was not a roaring success at the end of CPJ’s tenure.
3O will never return to Tech. Any other scheme sure. But not 3O. That ship has sailed and will never return to port.

But keeping Collins any longer is just continuing embarrassing seasons for as long as he remains. Fire Tstan Saturday night and let his replacement get to work ASAP on righting things after next year.

So you're saying Tech can't compete in FBS should drop down to FCS after all? Got it. We were there in 2007. Everything old is new again. Thanks!

I never said anything about dropping down to lower levels of CFB!

Maybe , we at GT should create our own IPTAY type Organization and raise Money like everyone else does?

Maybe we should stop antagonizing the other 90% of the State that didn't take Calculus and stop looking down on them and maybe we get more grass roots support statewide?

Those 2 things above leads to more Money generated.

All of our money issues trace back to GT's own poor internal decision making and not some outside force that we had no control over.

We are in this position due to 60 years of bad internal decisions by the GTAA and the School President's Office, yet we blame the BoR , the local sports Media, the Natl Sports Media, the local HS Coaches, we blame everyone but ourselves.

In 2007 if we stay with Chan and give him a chance to get a better QB, the trajectory of GT FB looks totally different right now.
