Listening to CPJ during his radio show....

Oh please, let's turn a football thread into a goddamned religious discussion. There's a reason I avoid the moronic posts of the Off-Topic forum, so please keep that **** there.

wow you tell 'em jacket...:ugh:

Wombat you nailed it!

Religion should be an individual matter. Football coaches need to preach football and preachers need to preach religion. Chan would have made a better preacher than football coach. You have to seperate your professional priorities from your personal priorities.

Go Jackets!

I will say this, and it will be unpopular with you, but here goes: you can't make unsupported assertions and answer counter-examples with a mere "Yeah, but that was different" and expect anyone to respect your opinion.

If I have to go into why college players are different today, then you and I just need to stay away from each other. I make certain assumptions about what people know around here, and one of them is a recognition that college football is quite different now than 40 years ago.

Anyone who knows how to submit posts on a message board should know that if you bring up religion, it will stir up some controversy. You contributed nothing to the conversation whatsoever. A great coach is not defined by if they say prayers in the locker room or not.

Many college football players huddle in the middle of the field after each game (from both teams, even rivals) to pray together. So if you are suggesting football players don't believe in God anymore, then you are mistaken. Yes, not every college football player believes in God. But any dip**** can make that conclusion. It contributes nothing to the conversation about how good of a coach CPJ is and what people enjoyed from his radio show.

FAIL. CPJ goes to Second Ponce de Leon Baptist.

Hell, even Hitler went to church.

How about this: Prince is a Jehovah's Witness now. And guess what, he sucks. Like college football, funk is no place for the religious man. Prince was at his best when he was sinning.

We have a new troll on our hands by the name of wombat.

My point is simple (though, hats off to you for making it much more complicated): there is a correlation between overtly religious coaches and poor team performance.

Changing the subject, what is "jack rocks?" I googled and got "Jack on the Rocks" which I'm all too familiar with.

Wombat, Urban Meyer (devout Roman Catholic) and Mack Brown (Church of Christ) and their 3 National Championships would disagree with you.

"Yeah, what about that one that landed in the Hudson last year? See, smarty pants, there ARE planes that crash! Face!"

Sometimes talent can overcome religion....sort of.....

Only on StingTalk could a discussion about a radio talk show turn into a Holy War.

That wasn't my point. All I was trying to say is that without facts, your statement that there is a correlation is worthless. You seem to be saying that:

Religious coach --> less wins than non-religious coach

But you never made note of all the non-religious coaches who don't do well. Make a list of the religious coaches, average their wins, and then average the wins of the other coaches. I'd be interested to see the results, although I'm not sure how you define being a Bible-thumper.

Yeah, statistics would be interesting. But throwing a statement out there that holds no water is just baiting.
