That is fine, let them take the gamble and not us.

yeah, Southern Mississippi is right up there with the Michigan, Arkansas, SMU and Tech job

hell, even Duke is better than So. Miss, they will pay close to $2million and its a nice town

your chest thumping is hollow, man, hollow and bitter

That would be the job Hatcher didn't even want consideration for. He knows he's going to win, but he ain't desperate to prove it. He knows his time is coming.

Southern Miss is a better job from a football perspective than either SMU or Duke. You're the bitter one around her methinks.

thank you nc....i am not bitter just posted the facts.

secondly, if you don't think PJ is a chance with his funky O that may not work in a BCS conf; and his (from what I understand) rather abrasive recruiting style....then ok fine

Paul Finebaum just mentioned on his radio show in a conversation with Kirk Herbstreet that if he were the AD at Arkansas, he would hire WM in a heartbeat.

Paul Finebaum just mentioned on his radio show out of Birmingham that if he were the AD at Arkansas, he would hire WM in a heartbeat. I share his opinion of WM's abilities and potential.

I would much rather have WM than PJ. I just aint sold that PJ is best for GT at this time.

Finebaum is a Bama Homer. He probably wants all the asst. coaches at Auburn to leave.

I don't know how you get USM is a better job than Duke, or SMU. If you look at the candidates that are in the running for the three schools, USM doesn't look like it is attracting the same quality of candidates.

If WM makes an agreement with USM, does that take him off the market for GT? I would think he would leave himself an out, if DRad was telling him there was still a viable chance and he wasn't bitter at this point.

its a better job b/c southern miss's program has been at a stable point for 18 years, including 9-10 win seasons recently. They are not a sunk ship like duke and southern meth is; where they are 1 win programs.

but, I don't think rad is telling him there is a chance. The wm ship has sailed away from the GT raft.

Southern Miss isn't going to pay what Duke or SMU will, that's the difference. But as 33 says, from a pure football perspective they're a much better program than either of the other two.

you dont think that if Duke played Southern Miss's schedule, that they would be at least as good?

here it is:
USM 7-5
Wins: Tennessee-Martin, East Carolina, SMU, Marshall, UAB, UTEP, Arkansas State
Losses: Tennessee, Boise State, Rice, UCF, Memphis

_____edited to add

also, your opponents are better teams, some even Top25, so there is much better competition

Tell me again where Paul Finebaum played college football:laugher:

It is just funny. You go into one thread and read GT is much better job than SMU because it is in BCS conference. Now USM is a better job than Duke; but they only played 1 BCS team all year, and lost. If Duke ever got half serious about football that would be a good job; tough part is getting them half serious.
