is this the last game in Jacksonville? I hope so, there was once again, a lot of empty seats. I was once against having it somewhere in North Carolina because of the weather in Dec. But, if somewhere like Charlotte would give us the best chance to have a sellout and a full house im for it.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that it's shocking that some people consider this game more important than the U[sic]GA game. Look at all those empty seats! It's unbelievable. It must only be half full at most.

Weather? It's 61 and crystal clear now just north of Charlotte. Perfect football weather.

I was initially for Tampa or Orlando, because of the weather, but, it looks as if our ACC fans are not traveling that well to Florida, put it in Nc, we may have sellouts.

An engineer would say it's twice as big as it needs to be.
Rich.

My take on the ACCCG is that it doesn't belong in Jacksonville. It was only put there for the prospect of FSU and Miami getting back to the top of their game and filling the seats with Florida State fans and Florida fans who couldn't afford to drive to Atlanta for the SEC Championship. (Or if the Gators didn't make it to the Dome.) I'm sure they'd have a row of seats set aside for any Cane fans that wanted to go but if they wanted to ensure a sellout, hopefully they'd have some people on standby to buy those seats too.

Simply for location and a busy-city atmosphere, I'd love to see it in Atlanta, but that's sort of an "Us too!" deal to take the same locale of the SEC Title game.

Rotating it between Atlanta, Jacksonville/Tampa and Charlotte couldn't hurt, I guess - but the 1PM slot sucks. Jacksonville last year was a disappointing city unto itself, but seeing it on a dreary, rainy Saturday morning when it felt like nobody there really cared about what was going on sort of blew.

The conference is in kind of a downward swing, and I understand that, but the conference needs to figure out a spot that's going to be more accessible to teams that don't travel as well. If FSU or Clemson makes the title game, they're going to fill their seats - period. So put it in Charlotte, closer to us, that lot of snobs up and down Tobacco road, UVA/VT and (God forbid) Boston College.

The SEC hit the jackpot when they moved to the Georgia Dome - Swofford needs to figure something out and stop banking on FSU/Miami being the flagship game of our conference. Even if they do start making it to the title game against eachother every year, most people are already tired of Wide Right/Left XXIII.

Living in Jacksonville, I was initially very supportive of the ACCCG in Jacksonville. The Gator Bowl Association does a pretty good job putting it on, the venue is nice, and most years, the weather is good (~75 degrees at kickoff today)

However, I have changed my mind on the best location for the game. It is difficult for fans a long way away to make plans to come to the game with only a week's notice, and it is unrealistic to expect a significant number of local residents (who are probably more tied to the SEC than the ACC) to pay $80 each to see the game. As I see it, a central location has to trump any other consideration. With that in mind, Charlotte is clearly the best option. There are more ACC fans within a three hour drive of Charlotte than probably any other site that could host the event. For the sake of the ACC, I hope it is moved, and I hope it sells out. (But I am going to miss it!)

I've been waiting to find a Jacksonville resident to tell you something:

Your road system is bull****. Fix it. Now.

I'll wait.

They really need to move this game to Birmingham alabama, in alabama they eat sleep and drink football. It would help southeast recruiting and give more exposure to the acc.

WF-GT was able to sell 10,000 more tickets than VT-BC and WF only has 6k students!

Sure....I'll get right on that. Rest assured that making you happy is the city's top priority.

I think in the short term, the team with the best record should be the home team (or highest ranking if they are tied).

My second choice would be to put it in Atlanta on Thursday night. Of course that might mean moving our last game back a week, but I'm good with that.

Otherwise, Charlotte is okay, but I really think it will struggle there too.

I hope that's a joke...you know what ACC stands for right?

I would support having the team with the best record host the event, but I really don't see Atlanta being a good venue (except for GT fans, of course)
A weeknight game would make it even more impossible for fans to travel to the game, and I think it would make our game seem less important than all the other championship games held on Saturday. But maybe that's just me.

3 years in, can anyone say that the championship game is a real success (or the expansion for that matter)?

In 2005, a 7-4 F$U team won their division by default and ended up in the Orange Bowl.

The last 2 years, the attendance has been pitiful and the conference has been laughed at because it's arguably at its lowest competitive point since the late '80s.

The main reason for expansion was the league was banking on an F$U/Miami or F$U/VPI championship game nearly every year, not Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest "ruining the party."

Thanks for having a sense of humor, buddy. Really appreciate it.

I realized after I wrote that line that it was hard to tell whether I was joking or not. I'm glad you seem to have caught my sarcasm. ;-)

So when is the committee going to announce the location for next year's ACCCG?
