Hrmm.
Is it in our best interests to rotate 5 guys at A back?
When Sewak spoke to my local GT club last summer, he was lamenting our lack of depth at A-back, saying that in this system they liked to have 6 ready to play at any time, because they were typically little guys going up against bigger linebackers play after play.

I think at B-Back the 4 deep should be Dwyer, Allen, Watson, Cox.
Just because he isn't a likely starter doesn't mean he won't play significant minutes. I dont think Dwyer or Roddy will get as many snaps this year either. You guys also have to be realistic that there will be injuries. I hope it doesn't happen, but 8 RB's could turn into 5 RB's at midseason. Who knows???
No offense, but how in the hell does Watson supplant Cox after what Cox did last year?
If the coaches think we need to go 6 deep at A, then Cox is needed at A again this year, which pretty much nullifies the whole thread. I just didn't think we'd go that deep at A. But I'm not a pro like they are.I have to agree with the redshirt idea. I hate to make a kid like Cox redshirt, but I think the coaches seriously need to look into just that. Once Dwyer and Allen are gone, Cox and Watson are going to be expected to carry the load.
Watson hasn't played a single down and Lyons is a walk-on. Cox has a place at B-back.beej67 said:Cox saw a lot of action last year at a non-native position due to depth issues. He played great, but conventional thinking is we have even better players at both B and A nowadays.
You better be 3 deep at RB, to keep fresh legs in the game and because of injuries. Luke Cox showed me last year there will be a place on the field for him. Four B backs and six or seven A backs are not too many for our offense. And, we need 3 QB's ready to play.
Pepper's best wishbone offense had Myers, Sims, Head, and Rucker as starters in '75. Auburn, with their patented spearing, took out Sims and Myers in mid-season. We did not have adequate replacements and the offense never recovered. With depth, that 7-4 team may have well been a 9-2 or 10-1 team.
But I'm not a pro like they are.
