No kidding! How could you not retire the # of someone who won the Heis....oh wait. Well, he led to UGA to the National Ch...hmmm. The SEC Ch...oops. The Eastern Division Ch...well, damn.

Ok, ok, so he didn't accomplish much of anything while he was there, but he did leap over some 7-foot, 560 lb behemoth in crunch time of the most important game of the year...if that don't say "retire my jersey," I don't know what does!

This is the same school that retired a jersey number based on one touchdown in a rivalry game that half of them say doesn't matter. I'm sure someone is saying they should retire Moreno's number.

Has anyone ever heard the hype about NoShon and Obama in the same room?

This whole "saving the uniform number" thing is funny. Uniform numbers are like a currency to athletes - everyone has their favorite number. So, if I were a guy on Georgia's roster that was looking to have that number, I'd be ticked if some rookie got it ahead of me.

This is the type of "me-first" attitude that coaches can bestow on players that ruins team chemistry. I'm not saying it will in this case, but it does not help build a cohesive unit if you ask me. If I were a coach, I would say something like, "The freshmen come in and work hard, and then the upper-classmen vote on who gets to pick numbers first."

I'm reminded of the Clemson/Alabama game earlier this year when Bowden let that All-America RB get his first carry and he fumbled. You've got Spiller and Davis on the sideline and you give the ball to an unproven kid as a recruiting trick, and you get screwed.

Anyway, rant over.

nice

If only we had a jersey number and color-based motivator instead of a football coach...

His act will soon grow old. Pile on a 7th loss in 9 years to the Gators (giving them a 3-16 record since '91) and 2nd loss in a row to the "insignificant" Jackets and the buzzards will begin to circle. Book it.

Richt is on a silent " Shannon Watch".
