I agree w/U totally pocket watch, on paper that is. I've done a lot of horn blowing in the past about how I expect the upcoming season to go undefeated, etc.................
Truth is, as old as I am, as long as I have been out of sports, as long as I have been a fan of any team, starting about 2 days before the game I starting getting an uneasy feeling in the gut. It's a feeling of I know we should win, but what if we don't play good feeling. I still get that old knot in the gut feeling and it's starting to come on today and that's too early. I just hope our guys go out there, have a terrific time, since it is a bowl game, but when it's game time, screw those helmets down tight and get their game faces on. I'm sure our HC can see to that, and will see to it. We've had coaches in the past that saw to it, so I don't expect anything different now.
I'm rambling now, but for years when I coached the peewees and mites, I always noticed that the times when our team got to talking and cutting up with the opponents before game time, we struggled and sometimes got beaten. When our team stayed focused, we won. Saying that is to say, I hope our team stays focused and not too caught up in the bowl extravaganza. (if that word is spelt right)
