I was worried going into Miami. I was worried about North Carolina. I was worried about FSU. But for some reason, i'm not worried about this game...we HAVE to take care of things on special teams. That's always been Frank Beamer's bread and butter. When I say we have to take care of things, I mean we can't have any meltdowns. I don't expect to suddenly be a whirlwind with the special teams..but don't give up 40 yard kickoffs...don't allow any blocked punts...just play "decent" on special teams. I think our offense has a good day. Am I crazy for not being worried?

Yes. I am expecting the score to be something like 38 - 27 VT winning. But I hope it's more like 230 - 0 GT winning.

Also, accuscore has VT winning and they haven't been 6-0 with all GT's games.

I think the only person who picks us in this game is Lou Holtz and biased GT fans. It will be us against the world. We definitely can win this thing, but I won't be shocked if we lose. The only reason why is our defense.

I'm very worried. My reasoning is as follows:

I was worried and concerned about Miami, the FSU game with the Bowden Trash had me concerned that F$U would be bitter about the 2 previous games they lost, but VT can play a full 60 minutes. I feel that unless the D fills the holes in the middle and on short cross patterns, it could be a long night.

However, since it is a Home game, Sat night at Grant Field and we will own BDS, we will in a THRILLER,

VT on any year bu this year, I'd be a lot less worried. But somehow, they started to play Offense. Its strange, I know.

Crazy indeed. This game scares me. Our offense is certainly rolling right now though, and the current year VT defense is not the VT defense of old. I think a lot is going to depend on our defense and special teams...

Yeah, I think you're crazy. I've only been this scared about one opponent, and that was Miami. Our offense is solid, make no mistake about it, and I feel like we won't have much trouble getting the ball down the field... it's just the defense.

I think this is gonna be another shootout, but this time we've got the worse D, so as soon as one team makes a stop, they're gonna win.

Herbstreit picks Tech a lot. He seems to be a big CPJ fan.

Well, it's about time some biased GT fan kicked accuscore's ass.

GT - 35
VT - 27

The good news is that Accuscore is wrong at least a few times every year. Maybe this is one of them. I doubt it though.

**** Accuscore. :bricks:

I know. I feel the same way. But if my life depended on it, I would pick VT in this one. Not because accuscore said so, but because they have a stellar defense and our defense is horrible.

In order to win, we need some unforced errors by VT and Burnett to get some INTs. If we can get that, we can win. But after seeing our D in this past game, I am not too optimistic.

It always worries me if I am not overly concerned about an opponent. Tyrod has not shown me anything other than scrambling ability. I don't believe he is an accurate passer, and I don't believe his receivers are very good.

BUT, our defense might make him look like Joe Montana!!! I hope not.

Go Jackets!!

Look, I'm showing up early. It's a late game. I will be drinking all day long. I'm going to get loud. And I'm telling you right now, if I see accuscore pass by my tailgate, it's getting an ass kicking. I'm talking about silicon spilled on the asphalt type ass kicking. Nobody picks against my ranked Jackets team during homecoming and then just causually strolls by like nothing happened! Nobody! I'VE GOT A BARREL FULL OF WHOOPASS AND IT'S 100% WINDOWS COMPATIBLE! YOU GOT THAT ACCUSCORE?! STAY THE F*** AWAY FROM THE MANAGEMENT LOT YOU BITCH!!!!!!!!!!

I'm actually more comfortable about our D going in against VPI than I was with it going in against FSU. Ponder is the kind of QB that given time can pick opposing teams apart...and he did.

However, I think most of Tyrod's biggest plays come after pockets collapse (something we can't make happen anyway). I think if we can shut down the run game of Ryan Williams like we did against Draugn and Houston of UNC, then we will be OK. However, our run D didn't look that great against FSU or MSU. Perhaps the 're-simplyfying' that Paul Johnson has announced will turn things around.

I expect this game to be in the 25-30 range for GT and the 20-30 range for VPI. It could go either way, but I feel better about this one than I did the FSU game.

We made GREAT second half D adjustments vs fsu.

I believe in our D. I know they are going to play great against fakeTech.

This.

I was going to mention this in my last post but forgot. We outscored FSU 21-3 in the first 23 minutes or so of the second half. They got a TD in the mid 4th quarter when we were basically playing prevent being up 49-38.

So it was 28-35 at the half. We make adjustments and with 6 minutes left in the 4th it's 49-38. I'd say that's a pretty damn good adjustment.
