maybe i'm crazy....i'm not worried about VPI

I'm not worried at all. There will be no game stress for me this week because I expect us to lose by 14+.

Believe me, I take absolutely no pleasure in saying that. I still bleed white and gold. I still love our program, our coach, and our student athletes.

Folks, the truth is, no matter how much you parse it, our defense is struggling. Unless they get A LOT better this week then there is no way we beat VT. The only wildcard for me is that we're playing at home. That's worth something, and maybe the defense will play inspired. I still say we lose, thus, no worries.

I see a lot of people saying we lose by 14+....and that our defense is struggling....this is true, our defense is having issues. But TWICE when we've given up a lot of yardage through the air, we've made adjustments that have worked. After the Miami game, and after the first half against FSU.

Tyrod is not like Jacory or Ponder. He is not a typical pocket QB. His best throws come when the pocket breaks down. We don't have the kind of defense that will cause that pocket break down often. I think he will have a lot of overthrows and underthrows WITHOUT pressure. Our MAIN concern should be stopping Williams. We've shown we can stop a good rushing offense when we 'simplify' things in a base 4-3 package against UNC. I think this game will still be close, and back and forth, but not as high scoring as FSU was.

+100

I like games where we are the underdog.

WTF is accuscore?

Some random computer program that predicts who will win games using computer simulations. I started looking at it since the first game of the season and it is 6-0 for our games so far. In all honesty, I just think it's something fun to play around with.

Whoever made it is making a ton of money. That's all I know.

Our offense was struggling for six quarters (Clemson and Miami) and it is now running like a Ferrari. Improvement on defense is not out of the question. VPI is only favored by 3 points. VPI gave up 400 yards to Duke. It's not so farfetched that we could win this one, especially with some breaks.

In order to win, we need some unforced errors by VT and Burnett to get some INTs. If we can get that, we can win. But after seeing our D in this past game, I am not too optimistic.

Tyrod Taylor make unforced turnovers? Not like that's never happened before. Maybe we should fly in Cutcliffe for some special advising this week.

Look, I'm showing up early. It's a late game. I will be drinking all day long. I'm going to get loud. And I'm telling you right now, if I see accuscore pass by my tailgate, it's getting an ass kicking. I'm talking about silicon spilled on the asphalt type ass kicking. Nobody picks against my ranked Jackets team during homecoming and then just causually strolls by like nothing happened! Nobody! I'VE GOT A BARREL FULL OF WHOOPASS AND IT'S 100% WINDOWS COMPATIBLE! YOU GOT THAT ACCUSCORE?! STAY THE F*** AWAY FROM THE MANAGEMENT LOT YOU BITCH!!!!!!!!!!

I was worried going into Miami. I was worried about North Carolina. I was worried about FSU. But for some reason, i'm not worried about this game...we HAVE to take care of things on special teams. That's always been Frank Beamer's bread and butter. When I say we have to take care of things, I mean we can't have any meltdowns. I don't expect to suddenly be a whirlwind with the special teams..but don't give up 40 yard kickoffs...don't allow any blocked punts...just play "decent" on special teams. I think our offense has a good day. Am I crazy for not being worried?

I'm not saying we should ignore it but "Beamerball" has gotten out of hand. NC State has more blocked kicks this decade than VT. We don't hear about "Amato-ball" or "Obrien-ball".

And if I'm not mistaken, we've had more blocked kicks in the recent series (last 4 games) with VT.

We need to improve the things we have been doing poorly - not adjust to what the other team is doing well (especially things that the opponent is perceived to do well).

I don't think they're going to beat us by running the ball. We stink at pass D because we can't get pressure on the QB and we've had so many injuries to a very thin, young DB corp.

If we let TT pass, then we're in trouble. If not, then we can hang with them. If they can stop our option, then we're in trouble, if not, then you have to like our chances to win at home.

One thing's for sure. We won't have a QB run out of the EZ and change momentum this year.

You are nuts. No offense intended.

That's the attitude that coaches and fans fear that the players will have. That's how we lose.

Be worried and keep the butterflies in your stomach. They can be good.

If we recover the opening kickoff AGAIN and the refs actually give it to us this time, we will win!:>)

If VT uses the same gameplan they used last year (the same plan that UNC used the past two years also), then we win. Last year VT took away the big play and waited for us to fumble. This year we've proven we can sustain drives.

If our O can continue to eat clock like the past 3 games, you could have a half were we have 3 drives and 24 minutes of possession. That would give VT two drives to score. They may not even have a chance to even the game.

When the O plays keep away, our defense has actually looked solid. Compare the two halves of the FSU game. Our O was scoring in both halves, but in completely different ways. I think we are actually more suited to beat VT than FSU. VT doesn't have the "shut it down or give up a TD" defense like FSU. VT forces long drawn out series. That will make our D better.

I'm very worried. My reasoning is as follows:

+1

Foster will be determined to stop Josh's midline daggers, and then there goes Roddy, there goes Marcus, there goes Allen.

You should worry...VT is the best team we have faced all year.

THAT'S who he looks like! I kept thinking he looks like someone familiar.
