Maybe this will bring some sanity back to college football.

I love the part of the constitution where it says the federal government has the authority to regulate intercollegiate athletics.
This. I’m not a fan of the current NIL and transfer rules, but Congress has no part in it. Let the NCAA actually do their job, or have the colleges create their own oversight body. Congress is not it.

Not sure I understand this post. Congress wrote the antitrust laws that make prohibiting NIL illegal according to the Supreme Court, so they're already involved. The NCAA legally can't do its job if by "its job" you mean clamping down on NIL in any way, because it's against laws that Congress wrote long ago.

So the way I see it, there are only two options:

1) Congress passes a law specifically related to college football so that the NCAA or a new oversight body has the power to legally rein in paying players

2) Congress doesn't get further involved and the top level of CFB truly becomes a professional league, along with all the fallout that entails. Likely a collective bargaining agreement with players as every other professional sport has that involves players getting a large share of revenue in exchange for things like limited transfer ability.

I guess I put more value on the lifestyle of a major D-1 football player, the ability to showcase his talent to the NFL, and receive a 4 year college education than others do. That probably comes out to a pretty penny, and it doesn’t hurt an 18-22 year old to have to pay their dues before making the big bucks, most of us had to.

Herschel would’ve ranked even lower, which says a lot.

It makes me sad that Alabama voted for a guy like Tuberville. My great-uncle, Hugo Black, was a U.S. Senator from Alabama then he was on the U.S. Supreme Court for 34 years. Alabama can do better.

I'm from Ala and my comment is--apparently not--the other choices were worst it seems..

The CEO of my company made around $20 million last year, while I was $80k'n it. I helped my company grow. All he did was make inspirational videos about our diversity. I don't even get room and board nor parties with loose women. Where is my compensation?
You sound jealous.

When tuberville arrived in DC the dumb sob didn’t even know the three branches of government or the very basic facts of how the gov works.
So are you saying he did not know that his job was to lie, cheat and take bribes to enrich himself and his family. Heck, Biden probably did not even know that when he came to DC, what, 40 years ago. It takes time.

I bet Tuberville has since learned how not to get the military on your side. Thanks in part of his stupidity the whole state of Alabama is losing out on an important military move because there is not one top military brass that want to anything to do with his obstructionism.

I have no issue with Nick Saban making $10 million. He definitely earned it. I have an issue with saying that Nick Saban helps Alabama win, winning makes a ton of money for the school, therefore he should be paid a lot -- but then saying that the players help Alabama win, winning makes a ton of money for the school, but they shouldn't be paid because they are 18-22 years old.

Going by your analogy to the big corporation, no corporation would ever say, "We're making a ton of money, we're giving our CEO $10 million+, and the great news is we don't have to pay our lower level workers money because we agree with all of our competitors to never do that under threat of penalty." That would be extremely illegal which, in fact, is the exact reason we have NIL now.
Alabama has won under Saban, but does Saban doesn't make Alabama win? Maybe they win regardless of him. He's also got a playoff now and that has helped him. Would they have won that many AP MNC trophies w/o the playoff? Let's consider that.

Alabama won the CFP in 2015, 2017, and 2020.
In 2014, FSU was 13-0 and Bama, Oregon, and tOSU were all 12-1. FSU would likely have been named AP MNC, though it may not have been unanimous.
In 2015, Clemson was 13-0, Bama was 12-1, MSU was 12-1, and OU was 11-1. Clemson would likely have been named AP MNC, though again it may not have been unanimous.
In 2016, Bama was 13-0 and Clemson, Washington, and tOSU all had one loss. Bama would have been named MNC by the AP.
In 2017, Clemson, OU, and UGAg were all 12-1 as was Bama, but they didn't even win their conference. The MNC would have been chosen between the first three. Who knows how it would have worked out, but Bama would not have been named champion.
In 2018, Bama and Clemson were both 13-0 and ND was 12-0. Who knows how it would have worked out who was chosen. Maybe a tie?
In 2019, Bama was not one of the top 5 teams, and three teams were undefeated. One, or more, of them would have been chosen AP MNC.
In 2020, Bama (11-0) and tOSU (6-0) were both undefeated. Bama would have been named champs.
In 2021, Bama, UGA, and UoM all had one loss and Cincinnati was undefeated. However, the AP MNC would not have been awarded to them, but to one or more of the first three.
In 2022, Bama was not among the top 5 teams.

So, I'd say that Bama likely wins the AP MNC in 2016 and 2020 and perhaps 2018 and/or 2021.

the only person who had a chance to beat Tuberville for the dumbest US senator title was Hershel Walker
If he were a Democrat, he would be the smartest one on the chamber. He is 4.2x smarter than Pocahontas.
