McCoy a jacket

Oh my, he's majoring in Computer Science! A tear comes to my eye :)

what? He couldn't have picked up a major this soon? and if it is CS, he might change that idea pretty soon when he finds out about CS.

Yeah, that's not going to last. Unless he's going to get someone to do his work for him or slack off on the football field.

My CS teacher at Tech was an old WR from the National title team. He got drafted in the now defunct 12th round of the NFL draft by the packers, got cut, got a job at the AA, started teaching CS in 2006 and was the 2006-2007 CS teacher of the year. The guy was awesome and unlike most Tech professors, didn't think students were the scum of the earth. More power to the boy if that's what he wants to study.

Cedric Stallworth, no? He came to my school on our career day to talk about Tech's School of Computing.

I'm assuming McCoy knows and enjoys CS though. He did say part of his decision to go to Tech was the academics, otherwise, he could have just picked an easy Management major.

Hopefully we can be a little more posiive in the future about our S/A. That's the classy thing to do!

Yep, anyone here who has been an engineering student at Tech in the past couple of years took a class with him (I think).

CS? Good for him, I just hope he doesn't get scared off by CS students.

And his list of offers was absurd. WOW.

I play racquetball with him, great guy.

All the best for McCoy, I wouldn't mind doing his HW :P He will probably be in the toughest track at GT if he goes CS, respect!

There are vast hours a typical college student wastes. Perhaps this is an atypical kid. Since we have a former player teaching CS I wouldn't think a FB player "not lasting" in it would be a foregone conclusion by any stretch. Since he'll likely redshirt he has five years and he has a lot of tutoring resources. You think the AA wouldn't be all over helping a kid out if he wants to major in computer science? If he starts and makes a 3.0 he'll be an academic All-American and have a zillion stories written about him. If he has a love for it he can do it.

He was cut, but it was because he busted his knee or something like that during spring practices. He says he turned his car around, came back to Tech and finished his EE degree.

Calvin Johnson was in Civil Engineering. Not all football players are management majors.

I am sure we had a lot of them, Godsey was/is ISYE including spending a year in masters if I remember correctly. Whisenhunt was/is CE.

According to their profiles on RW:

Tyler Barrett is AE
Chandler Anderson is Biology
Sean Bedford is AE
Ray Beno plans on Engineering
Scott Blair is C/EE
Kevin Cone is ME
Kevin Crosby is ME
Emmanuel Dieke is BME
Mario Edwards is HTS
Austin Flanary is ME
Joseph Gilbert is Biology

And thats just through the G's

I'm pretty sure this is wrong. He came in Building Construction and I think moved to management eventually.

/knows many CS students that spent nights upon nights at the CoC just working on projects for their classes. Something tells me this might be a problem when it comes time for practice. Good luck to the man but football can be a full time job of itself making classes that much harder. Full time students have trouble with the CS load. So its nothing against him, just that it will be hard.

Can't overemphasize the impact of a cadillac defensive tackle. Frees up the ends and backers to make plays. Makes everyone's job on defense easier.

IMO, if I could choose any position at which I'd want blue chippers it would be DT, CB, DE, QB, RB, S in that order.
