Glad we didn't try to ram it up the middle and went wide on them. JT threw some good balls.

Defense sucked. That's about it.

Played worn down and tired. Glad coach was able to rest the starters in the second half given the big OOC game followed by quick Thursday

Defense gave up 1 point per drive average. That ain't bad. It was still too bendy-don't-breakey for my tastes. Seems like we never play tight on the slot. But I can't see how you'd fault the performance overall.

The only thing I saw that was encouraging - moving forward - was the one run play in the middle of the 4th quarter that Brandon Adams stuffed. Otherwise, a very pedestrian victory. One more thing - Qua Searcy looks pretty good.

We won comfortably, rested a bunch of guys, and got TaQuon Marshall some game snaps. Objectives accomplished.

We also didn't cover the spread, which is a good sign if you're into that kind of mysticism.

I love how people seem to think we are going to just all of a sudden dominate defensively. With what players?

We are doing just fine defensively. Guys are coming along, but there is still improvements to be made. Seemed to me that the biggest issue that gave us trouble was that our DBs were trying to cover while keeping eyes on the QB and they were getting burned by crisp WR routes. When we blitzed their passing game went to shit.

Don't know how many screens they ran, bubble or otherwise, but were seemingly never prepared for it. Better fix that.

Did anybody else notice that as soon as David Curry subbed in at LB, the screens immediately stopped working? He personally blew up at least 2 of them.

Ever since we recruited him I thought he should play.Unlike "others" he is instinctive and knows how to tackle.

Not much to say.Fairly unimpressive esp short pass DEF. We may of had "Dublin hangover" but I sense there are some basic problems. If we stink it up next week, then we worry BIG time.

We have a young defensive backfield and our strength atm is on the line.

Against teams like Mercer we are going to play mostly simple schemes imo

We will have better coverage schemes against opponents with the players to beat us, as our DBs get better by playing

The key imo is how our LBs develop

Blocking was poor, but that could be due to travel fatigue. We must improve our blocking as we begin playing tougher opponents.

Vandy should be a good test for our team.

They were slaying us with the screen pass.

Minimal pass rush on third and long.

Mercer converted too many third and longs.

Pass blocking looked good again.

Run blocking needs to improve and the offensive lineman need to get down the field and block someone.

Our WRs can catch the ball.

Looks like we may have some depth at QB.

Our young RBs need to learn to hold on to the ball.

Would have liked to see Jordan get some experience in the passing game.

The starters were out there way too long. We were not running away with it so they stayed in.

Quade. 0 yards and a fumble on his first career carry. D'oh!

Here are a few thoughts. The team had 6 days to get ready this week. It was Mercer, not a lot to get fired up about. It was really hot. We didn't have any reason to show much on offense or defense, just basic stuff. We pulled key starters before it got too late in the game. On the other hand, Mercer was highly motivated and has a roster full of 3rd and 4th year players including a 3 year starter at qb. They played the triple option the prior week. Except for a fumble at the 2 yard line we would've hung 42 on them. Gave up 10 in base defense, not bad.

Now compare uga. No travel, playing Nichols State who started a freshman qb. Uga has a Heisman candidate rb, best freshman qb in the history of mankind (just ask 680 and dwag nation) and really should have lost the game.

This will be the first "normal week" our guys will have had. It should be better temps. Let's see what happens and if we can dial it up a little.

These are my thoughts as well. Are we soul mates?
