Supposedly based on formation of running back in proximity to the QB.

RB within a yard and half of QB = pass (presumably to be closer for pass blocking)
RB outside a yard and half of QB = run (presumably to gain speed and be faster after handoff)

Wonder if this was a factor in the "improved" defense.

My honest opinion - and I could be dead wrong - but I don't think this is anywhere near as big of a deal as the narrator does. It would have been WAY more interesting if the narrator pulled game film from UM's other games and showed this has been going on all season. That he didn't makes me think it hasn't. No way he didn't go back and check. That means we would have to have figured it out during the game and it takes several possessions to spot a trend like that. So if we picked up on it during the game, how does that make our defense look bad? Makes them look good if you ask me. (Disclaimer - I'm "arguing with the video dude not OP).

Another thing. If we "caught on" to what Miami was doing as the game went on then why is Miami's score by QTR 0-3-7-10. Seems to me it would have gone in the opposite direction: 10-7-3-0. I' chalking this one up to nothingburger. Miami played 4 creampuffs before we showed up and punched them in the mouth.

We had a game where our LB said post game we knew what they were about to run because of some tell from the QB or something. Not sure if it was the days of Chan, but I remember the interview post game. It may have even been a Miami game.

And, of course, MTSU knew our defensive calls when they beat us. Dumbass Groh.

It definitely happened and was noticed in our game. It was brought to my attention real-time during the game and I saw the pattern from there on out. Surely our staff did too.

Everyone does self-scout to look for tendencies I thought. As well as scouting other teams for tendencies. After the no-kneel though I don't have confidence they're doing basic things right

If our defense did well because we identified their tendency, which we definitely should have if they did this before... good on us

Sedric Griffin knew this watching the game live. He even said during the game that he wished he could phone the coaches

Sed still follows the Jackets. For some reason I thought he was pi$$ed off at Tech.

He’s been active here discussing politics before but I think he’s spending more of his active FB time on JOL. Does a weekly film breakdown over there which is pretty cool.

He is definitely a defensive genius.

How dumb are these Miami coaches?

My buddy in Dallas (whose dad was SWC Commish in the 80s/90s) and knows football very well, told me when Miami hired Cristobal that he was nothing more than an overpaid gym teacher. Thought that was pretty funny at the time, and now I believe him.

There are multiple ways offensive players tip run vs pass; it isn’t that big of a deal.
