Rewatched the 1st half the other day. We were up 20-0 and had them pinned back on a 2nd and 14. Played about 15 yards off their guy and gave up a 1st (and later a TD). We were rolling their defense and a stop there would give us a good chance to go into half up 23 or 27. Instead we give up the mo and only up 13. Brutal loss, but damn if that wasn't the most beautiful start I've seen to a Tech game.

When we were up by 20, all I was thinking about was how we were up by 20 in athens in 1978 and blew it late. Damn I hate being a prophet.

I hate to be that guy, but Georgia Tech is really the team that isn't like the others, in terms of fan support, as this map shows.

No school in the nation has a hometown paper that routinely shats upon them like Tech does being covered like the AJC.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nashville is a similar situation, but your point stands. Kind of a perfect storm with a relatively small Tech school in the capital of the south where the rival school/conference play their CCG. Which is fine by me - our ratio is evening out and our class size is growing. We'll be filling out the stadium soon enough and after that I could care less about who people in the rest of GA are cheering for.

They know how to tailgate though. That stadium gets hot AF though but can be rockin' every 10 years or so when they're actually good.

I thought the start of the '78 game was the best. I even label that game as the best I ever saw, even though we lost. I swear Woerner hurt Eddie Lee on purpose. If Eddie Lee finished the game, we win.
