Kirk Herbstreit just reported on Sportscenter that Les Miles will be announced as Michigan's head coach in the coming week, and Jon Tenuta will be coming with him to Ann Arbor, presumably as defensive coordinator.

well good for JT if we wanted him here we knew we had to give him the HC job. I think he will be getting that HC job in the next couple of years.

JT may be the next great one. We ignored O'leary and Fridge under Ross so why not ignore JT.

saw the same thing as well. Lead story on sportscenter. Herbstriet referred to it as Michigan starting putting together a "heckuva" staff with these two guys.

If true, best of luck to Coach Tenuta.

can't help but wonder if it's true...guess we will know when the smoke screen settles...If we end up losing JT that means the door is wide open for the HC...offensive or defensive...supposing that they were trying to retain JT and leaning more towards an offensive style candidate...Anyway...supposing the rumors are true then...maybe we could hire Hatcher, promote Giff Smith to DC, and bring back Collins....assuming that Hatcher wouldn't have any objections to that set up...

I wonder if JN has had informal talks with Rad. From what I've read, there has been no formal interview yet. Which raises the question if Rad has decided that JN is not a true HC candidate, but would keep him as DC if he'd stay and the new HC agrees. The UM job would certainly be a solid position.

I think they'd need to promote Smith from within to prevent damaging the recruiting & losing him to another school....but can't say for certain that you are wrong just my opinion

Josh Nesbitt of course. Rad goes for the surprise
move with the first player coach in NCAA history.:laugher:

If true best of luck to Jon, he has handled himself very professionally.

IMO, CJT is doing this to force DRad's hand. If DRad wants to hire him, he'll stay here of course, but he is wanting an answer soon.

This gives DRad a little room to hire a defensive coach (i.e. Muschamp, Strong). I doubt Tenuta is the man DRad wants. I hate to see him go, but it's something that he had to do to ensure a job. I just hope DRad doesn't speed up the process because of this.

Great opportunity for JT. I don't know if he will ever be a HC given all the things we know about how he likes to operate, but just imagine his defense with the raw athletic ability he will have to work with at Michigan.

If he does indeed go to Michigan at least it's better than him going to another ACC school where we would have to go head to head with him....If he does indeed leave GT best of luck to him & if MI is where he ends up hope he packs a Heavy coat...IT'S COLD UP THERE!

Now don't get me wrong, I believe Tenuta is one of the current greats.

But the only reason Herbstreit said Tenuta is the best in the country is because he's now going to a Big Ten school. While he was here, he got mentions as being "one of the top coordinators" and all that jazz but ESPN and most of it's employees make up a Big Ten Hype Machine and this will be part of that. If Michigan's defense has success there like he did here, they will run entire pieces on it on College GameDay. Here we got one "mic'd up" piece throughout his entire tenure and the other times it was just a quick name drop when they predicted our games.

I know JT is well regarded and, maybe, rightfully so.

But don't you think we can find someone else to cuss up a storm and tell the defensive captain to rush five guys? -)

Will be interesting to see if GT steps up to the plate & gives JT a BIG pay increase to keep him here....but I doubt that DRad is in a position to do so unless he 1. Has already unknown to us "offically offered our new HC" 2. Has the new HC blessing in doing so OR our hands are tied behind our back right now & hope that something developes soon before JT can put his John Hancock on the dotted line....

Agree with what you say about the espn folk's but that pretty much true with the biggest part of the media.
I would also like to thank CJT for everything he did for TECH and wish him the very best at UM.

I also agree with NC think about his style of D with the kind of talent they get at UM, SCARY.
