Thinking back to all the optimism pre-season did any of you have some these misconceptions about the Jackets.
1) Our Defense would be better than last year. I expected our secondary and linebackers to be better than last year with more experience and the addition of Tarrant. I knew there would be a drop off in the D-Line but I figured if there were any positions on Defense that were easy to fill it would be the D-Line (compared to replacing a safety or a linebacker). I didn't expect we'd have no pash rush whatsoever and how bad that would hurt us. In watching highlights of the Miami - FSU game I was actually thinking there is no way Miami will get that open on us as our secondary is better. The last 2 games have proved me very wrong on this one.
2) The O-Line would be better and the offense would run more smoothly with having another year of experience. While we've racked up some yards we continue to struggle with teams that have a good D-Line and team speed.
3) Josh would be a better passer. Haven't seen any real evidence of this yet.
4) Our team would be tougher and execute well. I think we have a strong determination to win and that starts with Nesbitt but the lack of execution on the blocks in the last two games is really puzzling. With PJ being the perfectionist that he is I expected more and no to see many 3 and outs. I am pleased to see that this team never quits. We could've easily blown the Clemson game after giving up 27 points.
Lastly, I think this next game is huge. While some may compare this year's record at 2-1 to last years where we lost to VaTech I think the seasons have gone very differently thus far. We just got blown out by Miami on national TV and the deficiences on Off & Def are glaring as compared to a close lose to VaTech last year in a game we should have won.
I hope the team can put it together for UNC. Fortunately for us their Off isn't the same caliber as Miami
