Auburn ran all over the field against them, we need to be prepared but we can take them They are posting on thier papers that they are ready for us!
Just like UNC did all last week. We'll see!!!

Just like last year, they've got the D to do it, they just have to do it. They didn't get it done last year. We'll see on Saturday if they can this year.

Auburn did in game #2...but games 3 and 4 were completely different.

Vandy had 33 yards on 29 carries and LSU had 30 yards on 31 carries.

That's all well and good and certainly indicates a trend, but you can't just leave out the data point. I didn't watch much of that game, but either Auburn did something very well or MSU had injuries and/or very poor execution. I know that game was also at Auburn, so that certainly has something to do with it.

Dan Mullen (Urban Meyer protege) is starting to have this offense click. They actually moved the ball against LSU last week and outgained them by 100+ yards. The 4-0 turnover margin and some iffy play at 1st and goal inside the 5 wth the clock winding down killed them.

Plus...as all of us know...our team has two faces. One is unstoppable and one is very pedestrian...which scares me going away for a night game the week before a matchup at FSU and then VT.

We are also banged up...most of the offense has battle scars (and I do mean most)...and the secondary is still a bit banged up.

I will see if I change my tune later in the week....but I am concerned about this one. We need to hope they have a huge emotional letdown after LSU ripped their heart out. Too bad it is not a noon game.

Stop being so negative! ! ! :laugher: I share your concern. Saturday night in Starkville, Mississippi, has derailed many a team's season. That said, I think we roll, with lots of running yards and win by 25+.

Wasn't MSU top 20 in rush defense going into our game last year?FSU was top 20 last year before us. UNC was a top 6 rushing D this year. I don't think it makes a difference with our O.
 
Guys

I already know all of the reasons why we should win. I am simply pointing out to the casual fan that this is not the Miss. St. many remember in recent years...partcularly last year.

The biggest concern to me is that we are playing with a lot of injured players (Dwyer- hip pointer, shoulder; Nesbitt- his entire body; OL- everything from broken wrists to broken ribs; Reese- shoulder)....and many of these kids sucked it up in a big way and fought through it to win again a challenging UNC team. Will they play with the intensity needed to win at Starkville?...or save it up for FSU and VaTech in the coming weeks?

We all know that when our kids are on they are on...but when they are off they are off.

I think the deciding factor will be our level of intensity and focus with which we play the game...maybe moreso than X's and O's.

Just my two cents worth.
