In the preseason we had a discussion about Major Offensive Errors, the Friedgen-endorsed formula to evaluate likelihood of success. The dudes over at Blue Gray Sky are tracking MOE for Notre Dame and opponents this year to see how well it works.

Recall that the dividing line between good and bad is 12%. Saturday was a perfect example of MOE, as GT recorded a very good 4% and Notre Dame a very bad 21%.

I'm not so sure about this MOE statistic because it only takes into account one half of a game's plays. Another BGS post shows it's not a completely hard and fast rule.

ND the past two years had more than a couple wins with an MOE above 12 percent. For example, they had an MOE of 14.8 percent in their win against us last year.

I'm not so sure about this MOE statistic because it only takes into account one half of a game's plays.

The answer is to compare the MOE of each team. Obviously someone has to win the game.
