Monken no longer a Dwag

Yeah!!!! Instead they’re going to hire a proven loser Bobo who has sucked at all his stops as OC because he’s done it before. I ööööIN love this. This is a massive step forward for everyone not in Athena.

I don't think Bobo is terrible, but I doubt he would be at the top of the list at too many elite programs. He makes sense given his ties and the system familiarity, though, and sadly it's probably not going to make much of a difference given the massive talent advantage.

Gotta think it means Lamar is staying put. Can't imagine Monken would turn down a good gig and $2 million salary to go to a place with no QB......Wouldn't make good business sense.

Possibly, but a lot of times guys take these jobs without really knowing one way or the other. He could just prefer coaching at the NFL level where you don't have to deal with all the things besides the actual football. He's also accomplished everything there is to accomplish as a college OC.

theyve had a massive talent advantage basically since year 2 of kirby. It wasn’t til monken showed up that they were able to offensively flourish like they have the last two years. There is no way this is anything but good for people outside of Athena. They’re not averaging 40 ppg and 500 ypg solely on talent, otherwise Bama Clemson and OSU would be doing it too

Agree here. Bobo was never bad, but never truly elite. He had some good offenses on Athens during a time they did not have elite defenses with that Martinez putz, then 3rd and Grantham. He will have more talent, especially along the O-line and WR/TE to work with plus overall better QB talent. I'm cautiously optimistic this is a crash and burn scenario for them. Monken was elite from game planning to play calling. Don't think ole Bobo is anywhere near his level.

True, just seems like at his age and based on what my Dwag alum Uncle told me, is that he preferred a stable situation to be a NFL OC, at the QB spot. He apparently was not going to take the Tampa gig if offered due to that very reason.

Yeah, I mean I'd prefer they have Bobo over some offensive genius, but they've basically been in that top 5 range since 2017, so as awesome as it would be for them to take a huge step back, I'm not counting on it.

Going to be tough coaching in the NFL. You can't just hire better players than anyone else on your schedule. I think I would have stayed put and cashed checks for as long as I could.

Sure, but if you think you're a top coach, then you think you can win without having such talent disparities. But of course, a lot of coaches that are revered from college football fans got quite a comeuppance when they playing field isn't severely titled in their favor (i.e. Saban, Spurrier).

Odd flex....Most have opined that we've the fact a retread in Bobo is becoming their OC. He isn't in Monken's class.
I'm talking about all the whiney c@nts shaking and harrumping about Faulkner. You'd think he was some kind of damned Sean McVay level offensive mastermind that we desperately need to cling to. So many just terrified about ANY ööööing thing they conjure in their minds that the mutts might do. Makes me sick to read it.

Yeah, life is different when you don't get the equivalent of 10 first round picks every year.

I don’t really spend much time thinking about who the Athens team is hiring and firing etc unless it directly impacts us(Faulkner). It’s trivial, we have our own issues to address before who their oc is makes a difference to us. That said, Bobo is objectively a step back for them. But they can afford it with their defense. Whatever. F* them. Maybe we beat them next year.

I’m not worried. If it is gonna happen, I’d rather get it over now so we can hire another OC before the summer unless we’re just gonna stick with Weinke. No reason to worry about losing someone who hasn’t called a single play for us.

His offenses at UGAg set several yardage and scoring records. FWIW.

Yeahbut if he stays, the dwags don’t want him and we suck. But if he goes to the dwags then we lost the best OC since Ralph and we suck. All roads lead to suck.
