More AJC news on Johnson:

He fits every criteria Muschamp did, plus he knows our players and knows what it takes to succeed at Tech.
That's not true. Tenuta doesn't have a YouTube video of him swearing at the opposing team.

Tenuta is not really a F-Bomb guy. He is more of a "Get your head out of your ass" guy.

damn right he doesn't, for u guys that think JT has as much fire as WM, pass it to me and let me hit it when you're done.

Tenuta would kick WM's ass.

[My candidate will beat your candidate up. Nanner! Nanner!]

No, but if you listen closely to the radio broadcast of the last UGA game, you can definitely hear a "Mother F'er! God F'ing Damnit!" through the wall, that got picked up by Wes's microphone. Wes even paused and commented on it, about how obviously they were one room over from Tenuta in the press box.

GTfanNBama: Have you ever been to a practice? Or listened to a game on the radio? Sounds like you're just uninformed about Tenuta's "fire."

I don't think coaches should be ranked on how "firey" they are. But if they are, and if Muschamp is a 10, then Tenuta is at least a 9, so you need to find a different criteria to set Muschamp apart.

PJ wasn't my first choice, but I'm reading up on him and may be reconsidering.

PJ's career record as a head coach is 107-39 (.733)--not too shabby. If you take out his first year at Navy when he took over a program that had gone 1-20 the previous two years, his record is 105-29 (.784 !!). FWIW, Saint Mark's career record is .788.

That's if my math is right. I haven't been near the Skiles building or the Physics building in a loooooong time.

Yrs,
J&J - '90
--first-time poster, but a Tech man like my father before me

beej i'm not gonna argue with u, just can't do it, but a 10 is better than a 9

I still find it interesting that Muschamp's D has been beaten BADLY by UGA both years at Auburn.

That alone is enough for me to think Tenuta is as good of an option (I don't really want either though).

Gregg is a good source of info, I didnt know he still was around much. Good to see him still involved.

He was a very good source in the O'Liary days.

I'm not sold on Garrett. He dang near guaranteed that Beamer was going to replace O'Leary.

But we aren't hiring a DC. From all reports, Muschamp is considered a real X and O whiz and a real student of the game. He's also evidently very well regarded in coaching circles and at Auburn and is considered a shoo in as a HC coach very soon in his career. Not dissing John, but most of what you hear about him is at a DC somewhere else.

NCJACKET, you once again are right on. We are hiring a head coach and in evaluating candidates without coaching experience, what is most important is how they project as a head coach not how they performed as a coordinator

CJT hates to recruit ("no traveling" clause... please!), is terrible with the media (whom he also hates), and generally pisses off everyone he works with. WM is an excellent recruiter, seems savvy with the media (or at least normal), and there's no indication that he's had trouble working with other coaches.

Accept and appreciate CJT for what he is... a terrific Xs & Os coach (perhaps better than WM) who has plenty of passion (rage?) to fire up his guys, but he does not appear to be head coaching material. I'm not saying he won't/can't change, but nothing I've seen leads me to believe that he will...

I have yet to hear this from anyone except a discussion board poster. Got a link?

Every interview I've heard between Jon and the media came off much better than Chan's final interview with 790 did. I'm 100% positive no head coach contract we issue to anyone will have a no traveling clause.
