Through the years, there have been some single-game performances by opposing players that really stood. Some of these folks could not be stopped to save our guys' lives.

As a change of pace 'round here, let's name some of those guys who made you want to throw a brick through your TV.

Off the top of my head:

Woody Dantzler, Clempsun 2001: Ran for most of his 200 yards in the 2nd half and OT as Clempsun rang up 40 pts after halftime to win 47-44.

Mike Cloud, BC 1998: The one sore spot in a brilliant '98 season. Didn't matter if it was 2nd & 1 or 3rd & 13, Cloud ran all over us (thanks to a truckload of missed tackles by our DBs) as BC won 41-31.

Morgan Kane, Wake 1999: Same as Cloud. We 7-2 coming in and had an outside shot at the Orange Bowl if we ran the table. Uh, no. Kane and the Deacs jumped up 23-0 in one of the most pathetic 1st halves in GT history. Little Joe tried to lead us back, but we simply couldn't stop Kane the whole day. Seems like he ended up running for about 240 that afternoon as Wake held on for a 26-23 win.

The Wide Receiver from Utah who kept on catching passes against us in the Emerald Bowl. Ledouchebag was it?

1978, Grant Field, Atlanta, Ga. GT is playing with 1 injured DT. Vagas Ferguson from Notre Dame runs for about 255 yards.

1989, GF@HBDS, Bruce McGonnigle(?) UVa TE catches about 100 passes for about 2000 yards, or so it seemed, as UVa won. Luckily/unluckily he suffered a bizarre injury before our game the following year @UVa. The greatest ACC game, ever.

1- 1992 Charlie Ward comeback at GT to win 29-25
2- At UVA in 1995, David Rivers plays for essentially the first time as QB and has a career game leading UVA to a 41-14 victory.
3- Pat White of WV spanking us in the Gator Bowl last year (2006).
4- The Wake Forest 1999 running game that beat us 26-23 and took us out of the Orange Bowl and killed any chance Joe Hamilton had at his Heisman.

I agree with hiveredtech the 1992 Charlie Ward comeback was the first thing that popped into my mind. But what about the 2007 BC game Matt Ryan's 434 yds...

Hard not to talk about Matt Ryan this year.

His performance was unreal.

Danzler has it all over anyone else because it wasn't like they were doing anything complicated. They were calling a 4 wide QB draw, every play. And we fell for it. Every play.

Except for a play-action pass to the tight end that went 70+ yards on 4th & 13 with under 2 mins to play in regulation. There wasn't a defender within 10 yards of the guy -- a play that still boggles my mind.
:eekhair:

I just looked it up. Danzer had 25 carries for 164 yards rushing, and was 18 of 24 for 254 yards in the air, with no interceptions. He was responsible for 418 of 502 total yards against us, with no turnovers, and those numbers include the 18 yards he lost in sacks.

Lets not forget that Clemson only hat 7 points until right before the half. They scored their 2nd touchdown as time expired in the half, and went on to score their remaining 33 points in the 2nd half and overtime. That's 40 points in essentially a single half of play.

Yeah, Matt Ryan can take a walk. Woody pwned us that day.

Oh, and we were ranked top ten at the time. If you guys like to whine about how nobody loses "Chanesquely," put a big ass bullseye on Clemson 2001.

Dantzler and it ain't even close. He was basically playing 1-11 ball and kicking our ass at it.

Matt owned us too. something like 456 yards passing only a few incompletions and liek 3 TDs

Oh...and we were ranked 13 at that time too.

Just saying, Dantzler was awesome, don't get me wrong, but to say ryan wasn't close is not fair. Woody ran alot, and did swing passes = easier comp %. Matt threw the ball downfield ALOT even in good cvg and was on the money.

Anyway, Most dominating performance I can remember vs GT....I think Weinke had one that was awesome, Garrison Hearst had one, Dantzler, Matt Ryan...those come off the top of my head
