Drove from Waco to Dallas. DFW to Atlanta. Checked into airport by hotel. Took MARTA to Georgia Tech stop. Ate at Varsity. Got into seats 1 1/2 hour before game. Watched a really good game.
Bought a visor for me and a buzz bee for my wife. Took MARTA back to Airport at 11:30 pm YIKES! wont' do that again. Flew back home Sunday morning.

I'm a Baylor grad and letterman but have been a fan of CPJ since his days at Navy. I like watching option football. Seeing it live, especially with Marshall running it, is awesome.

Some observations from the game....
the stadium, setting and atmosphere are great
Johnson has built a good program with good athletes and has won without hooligans...you are lucky.
the defense is better than you think it is
punter is awesome
no excuse for going for 2 twice in a row then missing an extra point
I wish CPJ would give Marshall some quicker throws.
Wake Forest running game, line play and run pass option looks step for step like the Briles offense.
A lot more teams should be running the triple option.

Congrats, and thanks for visiting. Next time, spend a little more time dorking around campus pregame, there's lots of neat tradition-ey stuff the band does. The Wreck leading the march down Techwood is a neat spectacle. Also, don't be shy to attend a Stingtalk tailgate. Free food and beer, all it costs you is having to put up with the dorks there.

Curious, how does the gameday atmosphere compare to the Big12?

Awesome thanks for the post! Just a couple of questions for ya:
1. What was scary about Marta late at night? I've only used it during the day, early evening hours.
2. Is there a Wake connection to Briles/Baylor? I dont know much about their coach.

There seem to be a lot of closet option lovers around the country. Some of the older Nebraska fans are still hoping for a return of an option offense like the one they had from 1993-1997 when they went 60-3 and won 3 National Championships.

"While an option offense is a rarity in the modern game, it’s found success basically everywhere it’s been tried. In the 16 seasons since Paul Johnson installed the offense at Navy, the military academy has gone 124-71. Army has gone 52-132 over the same period. Johnson left for Georgia Tech in 2008, and has since won a conference title and Orange Bowl without ever having a recruiting class higher than 39th in Rivals.com’s team rankings."

We had seats in section 105.

Baylor hired ex WFU coach Jim Grobe last year as interim so I guess that is the connection.

The atmosphere Saturday night felt more collegiate than a typical Baylor game. The GT Rambin Wreck,
band, fight song and Budweiser are classic and sticking with the tradition of Bobby Dodd, Grant Field and great academics is wise.

GT and Baylor are similar in that they struggle with fan support and being overshadowed by Georgia and Texas.
Following GT since 2008 and attending the 2011 Georgia at GT game...it is easy for me to hate Georgia as they are really just like Texas. Doing less with more than just about anyone
year after year.

Guess I will download the show this week and what Jim in Auburn thinks about the Wake game.

Lion, great observation on the quick passes. Don't know why we can't throw quick slants or dump it to the B back more if situation dictates. Would be a good question for CPJ.

We had a nice screen pass in late 2Q to Benson, IIRC. Agree that it would be nice to see more of it, especially against a team like Clemson who I expect to be blitzing a good bit.

That was when Wake was in prevent to not give up a long play right before half. I do agree we need to mix some screens in, but they won't always be that wide open.

There are dozens of homeless people, solicitors, panhandlers, and general bums on MARTA around the airport at night. And often they are quite loud and aggressive. Serious contrast with day-time.

But did you died?

But do you remember the screen pass we tried on 3 & long from our own 5 or so, late in the game? Didn't work — wasn't even completed — and we needed our awesome punter to save our bacon.

It is impossible to be good at everything; this ain't the NFL and there's just not enough time with the players to teach and rep every possible play. I don't mind us passing more, but there would be a cost if we tried to do it. (We all remember 2013, don't we?)

2013? I remember something vaguely. A label on a brown bottle. If I focus real hard I can see some text. It says... 100 proof. Yep. I remember 2013.
