Forgive me if I repeat other threads but I just got home and want to give my uninfluenced impressions and then see how the discussion went.
1) Just like I feared, the LSU lineman dominated us, both on offense and defense. I feared they would stuff our offense but they even bulldozed us on defense and Scott got 5 yards after contact on most every run.
2) Special teams were embarrasing. Fumbled punt, suckered on onside kick, suckered on fake punt, miserably failed on a very ill advised fake punt on our 20 yard line or so. Didn't return most kickoffs to the 20. Kicked the first kickoff out of bounds giving them the ball on the 40. When we punted they were low and they returned them straight up the gut for big yardage.
3) Their freshman QB played very well. He threw well and whenever he scrambled he ran around our LBs like they were standing still. We rarely pressured him on dropbacks which was really disappointing.
4) Offensively we have got to have a passing attack to counter physical teams that put so many in the box and beat us on the line of scrimmage. Top priority to me for CPJ is to develop a credible passing threat. We really only have 1 receiver who is not afraid to catch the ball and run and that is Bebe, but he still drops balls. Nesbitt didn't have much time to pass when he tried.
5) Sick and tired of soft coverage on wideouts giving them 5-10 yards almost automatically on quick outs and slants. As bad as out LBs are in coverage we might as well just pull them on passing downs and play with 5 lineman and 6 DBs.
This was a dangerous matchup for us. UGAg lit these guys up at their home because they have a passing game. Their pass defense is what was so pitiful. When we could not exploit this we became very one dimensional.
Thats all I can think of now. We have a great crowd there, the LSU crowd was really tiny but we just didn't have much to cheer about.
