Good post Dust Jacket. How are we going to get along without Cynthia? Saw where she dropped her law suit against the AJC.
 
Horrible. I read Feinstein's A Civil War: the Army-Navy rivalry over the summer to get prepared for this season and I have even more respect for the service academy players than before reading the book.

I hope our fans treat Army with nothing but respect later this year - I also hope many Tech fans travel up to West Point next year.

Such a disgusting display of having no class whatsoever --just a lack of respect. You can still cheer on your team and respect your opponent at the same time --particularly a service academy.
 
Actually, I was pretty annoyed this past Saturday at Tech, when a group of drunk students kept doing a 1-2-3 F*** Samford chant. Well it was more of a coordinated yell than a chant. I was embarrassed for these morons.
 
Tech fans also chanted "Cocaine" at DJ Strawberry Jr. two years ago when he was at the foul line. NC State fans taunted Tarver for being academically ineligible for one game, during a season in which a personal tragedy occurred. This isn't a Jersey thing, it's a college sports thing. Drunk college kids do stupid stuff at sporting events...it sucks at times, but that's life. JJ Redick turned out fine, and he took far more crap than anyone else.

That may be the case, but I was a college kid not so long ago myself - and I don't have to make an excuse for fellow students (at any school) who choose to disrespect their school, themselves, and esp. their country. Just because someone does it doesn't make it ok. I think that's the major difference between Tech and your average university.
 
That is horrible. I have been in the Navy for 17 (5 active 12 reserve). The only thing you will ever hear out of my mouth is "GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY". When those guys take the field at Bobby Dodd I will show them respect, and I hope the rest in section 102 does the same.
 
No, it's not okay at all. I was just pointing out that before we are quick to condemn Rutgers University(by ourselves making fun of the Rutgers' womens' basketball team with the thread title), we should remember that a small subset of Tech students did the same thing that this small subset of Rutgers students did, and pretty much every basketball fan around the country did the same thing to JJ Redick. These students weren't being malicious towards the student who will bravely serve our country; they were being malicious to the opposing football player who carried the ball against them, something which many of us ourselves are guilty of.

I work with a guy who was at Tech way back in the 70s, and we had a home game against Rice. He said the student section cheer was this:

"WHAT COMES OUT OF A CHINAMAN'S ASS?"
"RICE! RICE!"
"WHAT COMES OUT OF A CHINAMAN'S ASS?"
"RICE! RICE!"



So yeah, this kind of stuff isn't anything new.

Can we go play Rutgers? Lets show them some Southern hostility and friendship!! I will really enjoy being near a bunch of idoits like that, my nephew is USN Pilot working for their "freedom of language".
 
I would love to see us paired up against Rutgers sometime soon...although I don't see it happening.

We were still catching **** last year for having thrown fish (and JD bottles) at Notre Dame. Or should we bring up 'Rats, get the tail!'?

There's no 'major difference' between Tech and your average university...unless the major difference is that we don't sell out our games anymore.

Hopefully not this year. That would mean that we were playing in the Gator Bowl or something like that. Fortunately for the Scarlet, we will be in Miami this bowl season. ;)
