Re: NATHAN JEW update

GISA is white boy league football, and thank god it exists, otherwise I never would have had the opportunity to play! I played for Mount de Sales, one of the few GISA schools with "integrated" teams. Our team was probably 30% black and just about the only team w/ any blacks at all with a few exceptions, like Lakeevan at Stratford. Anyway, my point is I somehow made all region my Senior year, while I know I probably couldn't have made water boy at one of the public schools! I'm just thankful I had to opportunity to play the great game of football.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

Heh, white boy football indeed. I got to be part of starting my schools team and had a blast with it. It has got to be hard for truly gifted skill position players to come out of private schools. Gotta have a good coach pushing film to colleges or it would never happen.

And yes, Lekeevan was a beast... you havent lived until you've seen 250+ lbs of muscle do a standing backflip.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

I saw Lekevin run the 100m at a track meet at Stratford. Low and behold he finished in the middle of the pack with a 11.4 I think. Thats when I knew he was special.

BTW I am a Warrior over on the GISA Football vent on GAVSV. I love to rag the Macon schools...

Re: NATHAN JEW update

Maybe things have changed, but when I was there Macon was the GISA, everybody else was just kind of there to fill the schedule. I think they re-did the regions later though so that the State final wouldn't always be a macon team vs. a macon team.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

Perhaps you all could start your own thread about GA private schools & you all could relive the glory days....no offense but can we stick to the thread?

Re: actually Georgia does

[ QUOTE ]
A good example is Eagles Landing Christian who were a mediocre team in GISA AA, but have done very well in many sports in GHSA class A after switching over two years ago.

[/ QUOTE ]

This particular school did a pretty good job of recruiting local talent to win the Class A State baseball championship a couple of weeks ago.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

Typical Macon school attitude, but things have changed. 2 out of last 3 AAA football champs have been from North Georgia.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

I played in the white boy league as well. Those big bad Windsor Academy Knights. I graduated in 2001.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

I know this will peev ramblin off but to keep the GISA part of the thread going...

I too am a product of Mt. de Sales football - some of the lean years to be exact. A while after I was gone, a young man, last name Kendrick went from MDS on to play D-Line at Tenn.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

Interesting Jackson, I was a product of Tattnall football. And all we have done for years and will contine to do is run, run, run, option, option, option. Former Tech linebacker Matthew Etheridge went there and punter/holder Durant Brooks currently does.

Re: NATHAN JEW update

It doesn't peev me off....just doesn't make sense. Why not start your own thread...so when someone clicks on a topic/thread to read about the comments based on the heading that's what they'll see....comments/debates/stories based on the orignal post....Novel idea I know. It's a free board not limited to posting new topics...so why not start your own....here I will do the work for you myself....Just leave this thread to it's original posting....NATHAN JEW.
Thanks for your cooperation/understanding or we might as well do away with the individual topics and all talk at once
GO JACKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU MAN!!

Re: NATHAN JEW update

I just couldn't resist chiming in here - yes, yet another MDS football product. And one who probably never bench-pressed his weight (okay, maybe once or twice). Also from the lean times of the mid-90s.

I've watched a lot of high school football in GA. That '93 Stratford team and the '96 Mt de Sales team would have beaten just about any class A GHSA team. Of course these are the outliers. I watched Marietta play in '96 and I would have loved to have seen MDS play them that year - in my opinion it would have been evenly matched. Tony Wesley (went to RB at MTSU and Vald St), Kerry McLauren (DE at Wofford then VSU), Marquez Sams (wr at GMC), Michael Walton, QB (played shooting guard at Rice), and Edward Kendrick (DT at UT). That team was stacked. They also had two or three college baseball players on that team.
