Nat'l day of mourning: Uga VI has died

I heard this was the 3rd and final suicide attempt by UGA VI after he found out that he was the mascot for UGAg.
 
I remember see a headline a few years back entitled, "World's Ugliest Dog Dies". At the time, I assumed it was UGA VI. Alas, no, it was something that looked like a cross between a chihauhau and one of the gremlins once they've eaten after midnight. Compared to UGA, the thing was downright cute.
 
Bowey howdy! pooer Ooga dad today and them "Smort" Teckies laughing bout it! If I ever saw one face to face, i'd smack their face!!!

I don't want to sound like a jackass, but it's not exactly like the Pope died or something. The fact that you're placing more importance on it is simply you putting uga on a pedastol. I doubt you care if a hunter kills a deer in the woods, or the fact that someone had to kill a cow for you to eat a steak. And, let's face reality, it's YOUR school who's taking the "soul" out of the real dog sacrificed to be your mascot by making it sound like he's just an item that can be replaced, hence uga VI.

Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the owners of the pet and those who really got close to the animal. But don't get on to the portion of Tech fans who have less emotion invested in your assembly line bulldogs than a car that represents much more than what meets the eye for a ugay fan.

Tomorrow, your life will go on, and I doubt very much you'll ever think back on uga VI after uga version VII is released to the mutt nation. Now, if Mark Richt died or a uga SA died and people were poking fun, I'd actually be sticking up for you if these were to happen (which I'm certain it would not), but all you're doing is reaching for something so you have an excuse to point fingers. You're trying to make the situation something it's not to fit your agenda.

Notice who started that thread? The same guy that joined here back in Nov 2007. His only four posts are on this thread crying about the reaction from Tech fans. As if anyone is really surprised that we don't worship a dog named UGA VI.

The technical term for the act ArtchiTech is referring to is "Felching." I'll let those interested look it up for themselves since this is a somewhat sensored portion of the message board.
 
I remember the time I got put on one of their pages for something I said about No-Show-n. I felt special inside.

You have to understand. Many of them take animal husbandry very seriously.

Maybe U[sic]GA should take this period of mourning as an opportunity to consider going back to their roots. Instead of copying Yale--they could have their original and more fitting mascot--the Billy Goat.

For the record--if this had been a human tragedy, the folks at Georgie would have my complete and total sympathy, including my prayers. Similarly, in hindsight, I think the kidding about the wreck was totally well deserved once it became clear that it could be repaired and no humans were injured. In that light, U[sic]GA's has already noted they'll have a replacement.

Of course, the above distinction may be difficult for animal lovers to accept. Animal lovers indeed.
