NCAA Eligibility Ruling

They had to do this to maintain parity for big and pac. Otherwise those schools would be stuck in the next recruiting cycle with no ships to offer. The entire nation's top talent wound be divided among the southern conferences. That would be a huge blow. Probably bigger than the one your mom gave me.

Presley Harvin quote in there

I don’t know how I feel about the NCAA’s decision. I can’t see any good solution to the current mess.

Obviously current players get a big boost but HS players will be facing stiffer competition for a few years.

Wait, so schools can bring on 100 plus schollys now ?
Only for one season, then the extra year counts against the 85:

“Seniors will be permitted to return next year and not count against a sport’s roster or scholarship limits. Underclassmen will get access to a waiver they can use to extend their careers, but beyond the 2021-22 academic year, those athletes will count against scholarship and roster limits. So Clemson junior quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who started as a freshman, could conceivably play a full 2020 season and two more.”

His probably isn’t a good thing if you’re a rising senior in HS

Consequences will be down the road when kids have more eligibility, but coaches want to replace them. I’m not speaking of GT here, but more across all teams. Some lesser contributors are going to have to be processed to keep up with the Jones’.

The ACC, SEC, and BIG12 should leave the NCAA and form a new athletic association

This potentially helps us with Harvin, Clayton, Swilling, Carpenter, Askew, Howard and Johnson among others. It limits the opportunities for the rising players next season. This is a big break for the players, Swilling and Howard, who switched positions although RB is loaded going forward.
There will be a lot of players evaluating their pontential for the draft now versus later. Another issue will be degree completion and grad school admission. In the end, as with most NCAA decisions, this will help the top schools stock their rosters since they will cull their rosters and have no admission restrictions.
