I agree that we will be unlikely to win with another passing performance like that. We just have to hope that our quarterback doesn't regularly complete less than 1/4 of his passes. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that this was the worst passing performance Nesbitt has had in a game where he needed to be able to pass well.

Miami will be a big test next week, but hopefully their defense is just as prone to overpursue as they were last year and we burn them time and again on the ground. If the F$U game was any indication, they are. Their O looks legit though, and Jacory Harris is probably the most improved player in the conference.

Can you imagine the disappointment right now of Coach. Eff football. Girlfriends. Just tell the coach you don't want to play football anymore.

Everyone needs to settle the **** down. Nesbitt is a good player. He doesn't make good decisions at times, but makes excellent ones at other times. He isn't the only one to blame anyway. CPJ is the one making calls, and should have stopped making him throw after the 2nd almost INT.

Trying to run it is better than nothing. Nesbitt was making bad reads, sure, but I'd still prefer it. Do you know what his pass completion rate was? At least he made two sort of successful drives near the end.
 
Going to give credit where credit is due... Clemson's secondary did spectacularly. They never bit on the running game, even if they did, they recovered very quickly and defended the pass very well.

Credit also to the offensive line because I would say 90% of Josh's pass attempts, they bought him enough time.

CPJ and Josh both underestimated Clemson's secondary. CPJ called some bad passing plays when it was more strategic to run the ball when we had the 21-0 lead. Josh did a poor job of passing the long ball when he should have thrown it away or looked for the short yardage.
 
I remember these threads surfaced after the UVA game last year, and then they promptly disappeared for obvious reasons.

Is Nesbitt a great passer? By no means. But does he give us the best chance to win our games? Absolutely yes. And that's all that matters.

That said, it seemed we were forcing the passing though; the int thrown on 1st and 10 was absolutely unacceptable. Nesbitt needs to lay off the deep vertical routes and look for more intermediate routes.
 
Nesbitt is 2-0 as a starter this year.
Joe Cox is not.
Kyle Parker is not.
Sam Bradford is not.

Josh f'in Nesbitt is.

Tough game, showed a lot of heart throughout as he got his A$$ handed to him time and again, and somehow, some way, the Jackets won.

It wasn't pretty. It won't win "best game of the year" at the f'in ESPYs, but so what.

He is TWO and OH this year as a starter. That is as good as he could have been record-wise, and people are throwing him under the bus as if he was Joe Cox or something.

TWO and OH. Would you rather he not be the starter or that we would be 1-1 or something?

Damn - I thought I'd had enough to drink tonight, but apparently not.
 
Josh played like $*** against the best pair of DE's we'll see ALL YEAR LONG... but yet, i'm still disturbed.

Oh well.
 
Maybe Nesbitt didn't look good passing today BUT he's a clutch player. That last throw to Thomas was money. Clemson has one of the best D lines and secondarys we will face. End of the day Nesbitt won. Without him running the ball today we lose.

Come on people. So it turns out we're not the 1985 bears and Nesbitt is not Peyton Manning? Tevin starting instead of Nesbitt? Hopefully you guys are ****ing kidding. Everybody has a bad game, from the flu, girlfriend dumping him, whatever. Sorry if it makes me a homer, but I tend to think a team that has the ACC coach and player of the year and returns most of a squad successful last year will tend to be successful again, accepting both bad and good games will happen.
 
Maybe not a high school offense, but sure looks like a high school QB. Hoping Josh can turn it around. And it's not just his passing. What's up with the late pitches, often behind guys? What's up with almost falling down every play when he comes up from center?
 
Did I miss something or did we not win the game...Did our QB not put his team on his back in the tying drive(42 yards rushing, 24 yrd pass) and on the winning drive (39 yrd pass on 3 and 11 to set up winning field goal) I will take Josh all day...kid is a fighter!

Interceptions. Just throwing it up regardless of coverage hoping the receiver would make the play. It may have worked in practice but it didn't work against Clemson.

Bottom line is that I think this is a great lesson for Josh as a passing QB and it didn't cost us the W.
