New alternative to cable for ESPN

I can't stand Comcast, I cancelled them back in 2011, almost picked up internet recently through them for their Blast special they had, signed up and set up for installation and they called and changed the price on me, so I said "screw this, their still crooks" and cancelled the whole thing.
 
We cancelled cable but still got internet through Comcast for like 45 bucks.

Then they called us up begging us to come back as cable subscribers, and offered to package basic cable plus HBO with our internet for 50 bucks. So we said okay.

That's pretty good 45 bucks, I think the special was $29/month for a year for the Blast Internet, but then when they were going to come out the lady called me and said it's $39/month and only for 6 months so I said "see ya!"
 
Best part is you can do this just during the football season if you want. No contract, no installation...
 
Was this timed for CES I guess?

Wowza, DirecTV will have to follow suit, and also the cable cos. Finally!!!

But when will they get shut down like the little antenna TV company did? Edit: Oh I see that no networks will be available.

They pulled something similar on me before. Unfortunately at the time they were still my best option so after yelling at anyone who would listen, I just had to sit there and take it up the ass for a year.

Although $20 is a little high. I would think Amazon, Apple, or Netflix could push towards $10/mo while bundling it with their streaming services.

Now, if we could bust up the broadband monopolies just like natural gas providers.
 
Where does this stand regarding net neutrality though? If Comcast can charge Dish Network for the bandwidth they're using...

hot öööö I need to cancel my comcast then. I'm paying $150/month for basic cable and internet. wtf

That actually seemed too low to me, depending on the channels included. ESPN's fees alone are like $10, and the next highest is like only $1.

For most Americans, the announcement also doesn't mean much because they still have to get broadband somehow.
 
Yea, this just means my internet rates will go up because I don't get TV service from those criminals.

This is also why I advocate shooting any politician who claims net neutrality is bad. And I mean literally shooting with a gun.
 
Comcast will probably make the ESPN streaming 10 KB/s unless you pay extra. It takes up a lot of their bandwidth after all.

I am sure they (and others) will try to do something evil. It is a lot of money they stand to lose.
 
washingtonpost article says it will include ESPN and ESPN2. No mention of ESPN3 or ESPNU. So it may not get one all GT football games
 
Until Comcast gets rid of the data limit on their internet plans, this won't be an option for Comcast subscribers
 
Dish sucks. They'll get you to sign up and then drop whatever channel you signed up for, and charge you a cancellation fee if you leave them.
