The miracle that we make it to the ACCCG still exists (probably will end up scrapping this one in the next few days....but it still is a possibility).

This would make us fans and those players think all is lost.

The hell it isn't!~

New goals:

1. Beat Miami and Georgia (It's still there)!

This would send us to the Peach Bowl. That is almost as good as the Orange Bowl. It is a big-time atmosphere on New Year's Eve! Look at the Clemson-Aub or Clemson-Bama games at the Dome! BIG-TIME atmosphere.

2. Win the Peach Bowl -

It infuriates me that GA TECH has never won the bowl game in our own back yard! This 2008 GT football team has the chance to be the first in our long-lived history to bring home a Peach Bowl W!

3. Finish in the top 25-

Has not hapenned since the end of the 2001 season. if CPJ could get us there in his 1st try, man oh man, we'll be heading into 2009 with a full head of steam and a preseason ranking, as well.

LOTS OF FOOTBALL LEFT JACKETS!!!!!!!

One factor IMO as to why GT has never won the Peach/ChikinLikin bowl is that the kids don't want to be there. I have been there to see this happen on a cold, miserable rainy night in the old Atlanta stadium when we got clocked by Ole Miss 41-18 I believe.

I think generally that most teams want to take a trip for a bowl game, many fans feel the same way.

Not taking anything away from being in a bowl period, but this is one of my least favorite options right up there with the Smurf and Nut bowls.

Our kids would love to make the Peach Bowl nowadays.

Agreed. Compared to the toilet bowls we've gone to lately, I'm sure the guys would be pumped about the Chicken bowl.

I have one goal and one goal only for this team. Beat the dawgs.
This has been my only goal since day 1.

I don't think, even if we finish in the top 25, that we'll have a preseason ranking. The morons with votes will say that we lost too much from our defense to compete.

That is a suprise to me if true. I would like to see a poll from the team about a local bowl.

I doubt that they would do such a poll with solidarity and all that but it would be interesting to hear comments from the players even if done anonymously.

Seeing how the Peach Bowl is on the east coast, I don't see how it could be surprising.

Our old goal used to be "new year's day bowl." I have to believe that our goals today have been refined a bit, seeing how we always get shipped to Blue Turf or Green Nuts.

The point is that it would be surprising to me that the team would want to go to a bowl that is based in Atlanta. No doubt it is a better bowl than any of the west coast trips, but it is not a trip per se for the team.

the fans complain but do the PLAYERS complain about lessor bowls.

I remember when we went to Boise some players said they had the time of their life.

Maybe WE, THE FANS, complain about the bowls more then the players.

I always love the posters that state THE TEAM should not accept weak bowl invites. That would be like me telling you not to accept a raise that you didn't earn.

I had three goals before the season. 1 Win 7 games. Done. 2 Show progression from the start of the year. Done. 3 Beat Georgia. Ive been happy with this season. PJ is going to do great things here.

Our players complained about the Nut Bowl by refusing to play.

The players did enjoy Boise the first time. However, that was flunkgate year and we werent even expected to make a bowl that year.

The year we went to the nuts bowl, many of the players did not want to be there because we deserved a better bowl and got screwed. It showed on the scoreboard too.

I think a lot of it has to do with expectations. Considering we had a legit shot at a BCS bowl this year until 5 days ago, I think the players will be disappointed if we get shipped out west. On the other hand its a transistion year and most "experts" didnt have us going bowling. So who knows?

I thought the effort was pretty poor against Ole Miss and Purdue in the Peach Bowl. Was the Purdue game on Christmas Day? But, I thought everyone was up for LSU. It was a good game with good effort; we just got beat by an up and coming team.

I don't see the Peach inviting us. They try not to. In mid-season their Exec. was quoted in the Raleigh paper as calling UNC "the gold standard" among ACC teams in traveling to Atlanta. I thought I would throw up.

I think Peach will pick from among these three: UNC, FSU, and Va Tech. We'd have to be 9-3 to bump one of these out, and at 9-3 we might get Gator.

I would not mind trips to Nashvile, Charlotte, DC, or Orlando.

Beating Miami for a 4th straight time would be big.

Beating the Mutts would make it a terrific time. Capping the season with a bowl win and a 10th victory would be terrific no matter where the bowl is. 10-3 would be outstanding considering where we could've ended up.

I don't give a s*** how much the players enjoy going to Boise.

It's f****** embarassing.

I wouldn't go that far. Bowling in Boise is probably better than not bowling at all. But...

What's f****** embarassing is that when we end up there, we haven't been bringing our game with us. Sure, the players have fun sliding down the ski slope on inner tubes, but they haven't represented well on the field.

A better response would be to go out and prove that we should have had a better bid. Look at how the butt-sniffers handled the rainbow fairies last year. That's what I hope CPJ brings to the table!

We lost to LSU in the Peach Bowl because we turned the ball over something like 5 times.

If you're still holding out hope for a miracle, the game to watch is Clemson @ UVa. If UVa wins that game, I believe we're mathematically eliminated. I haven't seen a line on that game, but I'm guessing it's something like UVa -9.5.

edited - Clemson/Virginia is 22 Nov, not this weekend.
