New Tech Square Resturant

Hell yes to the WH on campus. It will be raking the business and the students will be eating it up.

Never went to J.R. Crickets even though I spent the latter two-thirds of my campus living on east campus, but now I have to put it on the list after seeing the positive Yelp reviews.

This is the most awful and reprehensible comment I have ever read on the internet, or anywhere else for that matter.:eek::confused::wtf::puke:

For the gastrointestinally challenged, any non-GT dining hall eatery within a one mile radius of the Varsity > Varsity. Tradition does not equal good food.

Do they still have that Waffle House style diner in the parking garage in front of Woodruff? If so, they'd better get their act together cause the pros are coming to campus...

I think that was called the Westside Cafe. No idea if it's still around anymore.

Double Patty Melt Plate with Hashbrowns, scattered, smothered, covered, and double topped. Whatever Burt's Chili is left over it goes on the patty melt. That's eaten!!!

The Varsity has been living off its reputation for far too long.

Well, maybe I've been going there before games all too long. I remember going to the varsity before games when I was 8 with my grandfather. I don't see that changing too much.

They closed that a couple years ago. Too bad, I thought the food was pretty good. West Side Cafe it was called.

They were open late, too. I spent many a night obliterating their buffalo chicken tenders.

Uhhh, the Waffle House is better than the Varsity by a ****ing long shot. I'll put up a double steak melt patty melt plate and hashbrowns the way you like em against any combo you can manage at the Varsity. Varsity is a goods little kids place for your pregame traditions... you can have that... but as far as if I'm driving down the street and the last two restaurants before I cross the Atlantic are The Varsity and The Waffle House... my ass is walking into the packed wafflehouse and waiting an hour to be seated before I waste my time ordering a crappy hotdog and an FO.

When the Warden asks me what I want my last meal to be, I already know the answer:

Double Chili Steak, Slaw Dog, Onion Rings and an FO.

The Waffle House is good 3 AM drunk food. Nothing more. So, it's perfect for school. Wish it was there when I was a student.

This is a stupid argument because you are comparing apples and oranges.....I've found non-native Georgians all dislike the V probably because it rivals something similar they grew up with.

The fact is the V is like many things from your childhood, flawed but memorable and like all great things as you get older its consistent as the day you first walked in. That's why I love the V - its always and will always be the way it should. Having lived in SC for several years when I'd go back to Atlanta it always felt at home to stop in and sit in the dining room.

I went to the Varsity exactly once when I was Tech, right after I moved in as a freshman.

West Side Cafe was okay, but it's best quality was that it was open late. I watched it go through its death spasms as Aux Services gradually killed it off: they got rid of menu items, raised prices, replaced the hipsters that worked there with regular staff, etc.

Waffle House > The Varsity by a very large margin.

Both are "memorable for their flaws" but Waffle House actually has food I want to eat, cooked to order, affordable, and fast.

As a tangent, Idle Hour Country Club in Macon for Labor Day every year has Varsity food in a buffet -- it is one of their biggest events. I am not kidding.
