Is anyone else worried about this? I mean, it should be great for replays and stuff, but what are the side effects? I'm worried about more sponsored things in between timeouts and commercials on the video board. And the sound system is what I'm really scared of...are they going to start piping in music a la NFL teams? I know this was being talked about last season, even without a nice new sound system.

I love the NFL just as much as anyone, but to be honest, the atmosphere just doesn't compare to college. I don't want T.I. blaring on the sound system in between downs like at Falcons games. I don't need super cool graphic presentations in between downs(even the character race annoys me). I want the band, the mascots, the cheers...the atmosphere. And I feel like that stuff is going to slip away as we get more stuff like this.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Personally, I loved the Coca-Cola aspect of the new design.

It looks great IMO.

I'm all for blaring T.I. during the game. I'm sure most of the players would/will like that too. But I do understand the your worries. The things we like are different

TI is probably a favorite amongst the players on the team and the players we hope to have on the team. If playing TI helps our performance, bring it out. :)

We need the money.
As much as I agree with the original sentiment of this thread, I believe that the AA's financials will take a precedence over my desire to have our games look like something from the Bobby Dodd era.

Building bigger, flashier stadium has a similar effect as building a water park in south Florida...If you build it they will come...

The more ads we have, the sooner we'll have a better bball program.

We need it desperately!!! Did anyone go to the Clemson or UNC game last season. It was a deaf-defying sound system (the bell at UNC and the music at Clemson)!!! It really gets the crowd in the game and even helped Clemson rally to get back in the ball game. So I'm all for it anything that will give our team an advantage.

Yea. Its great at clemson. To bad the team sucks.

TI is a famous rapper. Also a GT fan. Was on the sideline for the GT and Miami game last year.

I'm not thinking he'll make it to too many games this season though...

Last I heard was he probably wasn't going to end up in jail. But that was awhile back.

I'm not worried. The band will win in the end.

I don't know if you realize how close it was to fruition last year, until the director went and had a chat with the AA. I can tell you from my freshman year (2006), until this past fall, there's been a definite drop-off in our opportunities to play. Towards the end of last year, we pretty much started making our own time/squeezing it in at every opportunity.

I like the idea of the new video board and the new sound system. However, the University of Texas has a monster screen, which i hear is covered over 60% by advertisements at all time. The ribbon boards will, no doubtedly be scrolling ads all game except for a few moments (touchdowns and "get on your feet" visuals). I think the sound system is a great thing. I have always been envious of Clemson/UNC/any other team that made ours look like crap. Sure, it will make for better sounding commercials. But even for something like the Frist Down whistle or Kernkraft 400 at the beginning of the game, it's worth it!
