I had assumed that next year's schedule would begin August 29 and end November 28 - 14 weeks to play 12 games. SEC schools already have their schedules posted and none of them show an opener before September 5 - they are playing 12 games in 13 weeks. Will this be the same for all the NCAA?

Given that folks seem to think two weeks getting ready for our option is an advantage, only one off week may be to our advantage. Wonder if ACC office will give UNC an off week before us again?

This would be the first time we have tried to play 12 games in only 13 weeks. Interesting.

But I'm pretty sure the Georgia game proved that getting an extra week before playing us isn't that advantageous, at least not more so than it would be for anyone else.
What I think is a distinct possibility is we get a week off before a Thurs night game, and that game happens to be with VT. ACC might decide to be match makers and give VT a bye week before that as well though. At which point the better coaching staff would prevail I think.

That is very very interesting now that you mention it. And that probably is the reason why georgie didn't put an off week before our game again.

Actually I had checked that earlier. They alternate having a bye week before us every other year. They didn't have a bye week before us in 2007.

They don't need a bye week before we play in Atlanta. They will have SEC refs. The only time we beat them since we quit using split crews in Atlanta was in 1999. And, they kept UGa in the game until the call that got them suspended.

I've forgotten. What call got them suspended?

The Jasper Sanks fumble. The SEC basically said after the game, if your going to make a close call at the end of the game, it better benifit the SEC team. Because if it doesn't, and your wrong you'll get suspended.

Well...that was a call that would have gotten overturned these days.

But so would have another call involving Joe Hamilton on a sideline in Athens, I think it was. That's all I remember with this aging gray matter. But it was a play that the doggies seem to forget that had similar implications and repercussions.

They really said that? Is there an article on it somewhere?

You can't overturn something if there isn't clear evidence, and I don't think there was on the Sanks fumble. You really can't see anything.

From replays I saw right after, it was absolutely clear to me that ugag got screwed.

Not sure what you saw then, the only thing I remember was him going down...you couldn't see the ball on any angle I remember seeing.

With the new offense we run, refs can be real assholes and call chop blocks on every other play. I look forward to see what they are going to do this year.

I actually watched the video last night...Sanks didn't fumble, his knee hit just before the ball came loose. Doesn't really matter anymore...

I'm really anxious to see our schedule. We have a decent OOC schedule for '09 so if the ACC schedule can be decent we'll have a good shot at staying high in the rankings.

There was no official, "All calls favor us". But when your best crew is suspended for making a close call, the message is clear.

Good call, favoring either team - no suspension
Bad call favoring non-SEC - suspension
Bad call favoring SEC - no suspension

So, as a ref you have to give preference to the SEC because no one intentionally makes bad calls (unless its a Duke BB game).

Yes, the message is clear and has been that way since the Sanks game. Why we bother with a cheating conference is beyond me.
