Neyland Stadium $106M renovations fully funded by donations

Public donations require 2 things: the athletic department has to reach out to the public, and they have to provide an incentive for donating. Tennessee loves Butch Jones and they are happy to be relevant again. They believe he is good for the long-term of the program. Donating is easy.

If the GTAA wants a publicly funded locker room, or anything else for that matter, it just takes providing a reason to donate - what the locker room will contribute to - and reaching out. I haven't gotten any calls about it.

Are they really relevant though? They lost to the two best teams they have played and had to beat the mutts by a Hail Mary and we know Georgia isn't a good team this year.

I've noticed a pretty big contrast between the Tennessee fans and the non-Tennessee fans on this one. The post-Fulmer era was bad for Tennessee; like stock market crash and great depression bad. They went from really high to really low and a string of terrible coaching decisions put them in a bad spot in just about every aspect from recruiting, to financials, to competing on the field.

Butch Jones seems to be the big difference between those who are fans/not fans. The non-fans generally seem to think he isn't terribly competent, and the Tennessee fans generally see him as a stalwart of the program at a time when there was a lot of uncertainty. They've seen slow progress, but they know the program was in such a bad place that slow progress is about all they can get. They are also terrified that firing him will just put them back into the dark place they were before him.

Butch will be around to at least 2022-2023 no matter what because he will get a contract extension after this season. I'm pleased with the job Butch has done bringing Tennessee back from the abyss Tennessee will win the SEC East this season and that means UT is back.

And if they don't win the East? (Which is putrid btw the worst division in power 5)

Their remaining schedule looks to be a joke.

Tennessee will win the final 5 games it's a safe assumption in my opinion that they will. If Tennessee and Florida finish 10-2 Tennessee will win the SEC East because of the tiebreaker in beating Florida 38-28. I'll be happy if UT wins 8-10 games every season and contends for the SEC East every season. I think the UGAG-Kentucky game will be for 3rd place in the SEC East while Florida will be 2nd.
