Hopefully, Daryl is doing some recruiting for Tech while at home this week. His high school just won the second consecutive 5A state title (LSU's QB Jordan Jefferson is from his high school too).

Side note: This area of Louisiana known as the River Parishes has been fertile recruiting ground for Tech starting with O' Leary (i.e. Kerry Watkins - All ACC and leading WR all time and Greg Gathers (All ACC and leading sack leader). Recruiting this area is one of the main reasons Saban was able to lift LSU to national prominence. I would love to see CPJ to extend recruiting back here as this area is literally a gold mine for blue chip talent. Miami has also had a presence in this area (i.e. Reggie Wayne - Colts and Ed Reed - stud safety with the Ravens).

Whoa, guess there's more than one periodical called "The Advocate."

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Darryl is truly an impressive young man. I had a talk with him on fan day this year and I walked away totally impressed.

He is destined for big things.

Being from that region (I am from NOLA), Darryl Richard and people like Eric Henderson have a lot of pull down there because communication is mainly word of mouth. Over the Thanksgiving break when I was golfing, I started talking to this guy whose child went to St. Augustine (a 5A solid football school) and is a 5 start recruit, and he was telling me that more and more people are starting to go to out of state schools (especially Alabama) from that area. Less people are going to LSU because the word is that Miles is not a great coach and he rode to the top with Saban's players. This is a good thing for GT because the recruits will be more likely to go out of state now. They aren't going to go to LSU because all their high school teammates are going there.

Cajunjacket, nice to read another Louisiana Jacket on ST (I from orginally from the BR area). I can tell you the ole Mike Archer days are slowly approaching in Baton Rouge. Miles is not Saban in any sense (especially as a tactician), and the days of LSU locking the border to blue chip athletes (keeping in state) are fading away. Hopefully, we can land some of the likes of Warrick Dunn, Peyton & Eli Manning, Marshall Faulk, Ed Reed, Brandon Jacob, etc. on North Ave (all left the Boot).

This article mentions his desire to own an NFL franchise. Someone should forward his resume to Arthur Blank - I think DR exemplifies the type of person Arthur Blank likes to have working in his organization.

This is all assuming he doesn't go pro.
