bolded emphasis is mineOn multiple occasions this fall, Georgia Tech coaches and players have mentioned two players as the best blockers on the team: Lucas Cox and Robert Godhigh.
Cox, a junior who started at A-back last season, packs a tremendous pop in his 245-pound fullback-style frame.
Godhigh, on the other hand, joined Georgia Tech as a preferred walk-on this past offseason.
“When I made that decision to come here as a walk-on, I knew I had to work really hard to impress the coaches to try to get a scholarship,” Godhigh said. “So that’s just been my main focus and motivation to outwork everybody else, scholarship players included.”
A three-sport athlete and Cobb County football player of the year, Godhigh had a scholarship offer to play at Wofford before the Yellow Jackets finally contacted him.
“I went up there, and I liked it, but it wasn’t really what I was looking for,” Godhigh said of Wofford. “And then Tech offered me a position as a preferred walk-on, so I figured that that would be better for me. The only thing I’d have to do was go in there and work a little bit harder and earn a scholarship. And then academics was a big part, too. I know that when I get a degree from here, that will help me after football as far as a career.”
