So what's the scoop on NIU? They were 0-6 last year and gave up an average of 39PPG. The new QB, Rocky Lombardi, is a big kid, highly rated QB out of high school and transfer from Michigan State. The RB, Waylee, is decent and they return the top 3 receivers from last year. The top WR, Tyrice Richie, had 53 catches and 600 receiving yard in the 6 games played last year. Not bad.

The defense, on the other hand, seems pretty bad, especially the secondary.

I say we hang 60 and get some votes in the pole before week 3.

How is their oline? Seems like that will be the difference between high scoring nail biter or a comfortable win. Assuming our D hasn’t improved.

We better come out and play like the damn future of the planet depends on us winning.
Anything less and... not sure I have the words and I never don't have the words.

And if we have even one clock management mistake... see previous statement.

I agree, I just hope that doesn't translate into us playing tight and antsy. We should be able to win this game just based on execution and fundamentals (OL blocking, DL disrupting, etc.)

Starters should only see the field for a few series in 2nd half.
Should be fun to watch as the subs should get some second half action and our RB's are deep and good.
favored by -17.5 but my guess is subs play and we don't run it up.I been wrong before.I still think we'll easily cover.
CBS Sports 130 ranks them at 121

I dunno, we have a lot of points to make up from the last 2 seasons. It would do this team some good to see some 50+ point scoreboards in our favor.

This. Collins has three FCS defeats in four years of FBS coaching. He needs to start the season emphatically and bury the lesser teams.
I agree, but he as 2 FCS losses as a head coach. We definitely need to score 50+ in both of the first 2 games and win by 30+.

The Dwags/Clemson will be playing the same time as our game. I'd like to get a big lead by the 3rd Q and then go home to watch that game on the DVR. What a great start to the season it would be to see a Tech W and a Dwag L in week 1.

If their offensive line is halfway decent they’ll hang 20+ on us.

I’m beginning to think I’ll never see another decent Tech defense. Hell, I’ve only seen a handful in 30+ years.

We did not face an FCS tram last year, so the most accurate statement would be that Collins has lost to every FCS team that he has faced.
