No 12th game

Bad fail? How so?

It should've been possible to find a replacement game. Didn't move fast enough and didn't try hard enough.

UMass (FBS) was available October 7, and their AD used to be associate AD at GT. But FIU scheduled a replacement game with them before Stansbury was even trying. We got beat out by FIU--embarrassing.

I can't see any benefit of setting that game up. We don't need a warmup game in December against Georgia freaking State - it would make us look like a joke, playing a glorified FCS team while all the real teams play in conference championships. A replacement game would have had to happen during our scheduled bye week, but I totally understand PJ preferring Miami prep time to a sham game.

October 7 not December

Plus I don't want to play in their death trap stadium. Has to be at BDS

Bad fail by Stansbury.

Doesn't sound like they even tried to get the Coastal Carolina game moved, which was an obvious fix.

Coastal Carolina could've only moved that game into one slot, 11/25, but Georgia State plays that day. Unfortunate.

You're right, the team to make it work with was definitely UMASS, who has the 10/7 BYE and was down to 11 games when the AAC shuffled South Florida's schedule around. But Tech initially said they would not seek a game, FIU swooped in and grabbed UMASS when Indiana cancelled on them, then a week later Tech did pursue a game and by then it was too late.
