No GA state tax for NIL $$

This is bullshit. I paid taxes while working my whole college career. Get rid of income taxes like other states but to single out athletes for exemption just pisses me off.
This brings up the question as to why Tennessee, Texas and Florida have no state income tax and Georgia does. Are these states better run or more economical with their funds than Georgia?

Tennessee is a shit hole.

When I was married to now Ex#2, I was amazed to find that, in about 2006-ish or so, my stepdaughter's high school economics book at Cascade outside of Bell Buckle was from 1968. No joke. It was so behind the times it was actually interesting reading. Fun problems like calculating the payments on a vehicle loan for a brand new car. First, price of new car, $4,400......it was pathetic.

Georgia is far ahead of Tennessee, statewide, in education.

And there's this.

Here's how the idea came about for State senator Brandon Beach introducing the bill...it's all (as usual) about giving ugag any advantage possible:
"I had dinner at Lake Burton with Nick and Terry Saban, my wife and me, and another couple, and he [Saban] loves Kirby Smart like a son," Beach said. "He said, 'If you want to help Kirby until they figure out all this NIL stuff, one thing you could do is eliminate the income tax on NIL athletes.' So I got the idea actually from Nick Saban."
Beach is an LSU guy but his kids might have gone to uGA.

No, they get more from the Federal govt, and/or have less infrastructure

Same reason why weed isn't legal! It's revenue for these small towns in GA, we back in the prohibition days still! Still good to have Church's and banks on every corner tho

Good lord. The bill would benefit every school the same way. Regardless of who introduced the bill. From KSU to State to Southern, it’s about the NIL $$$. Period. The more you have, of course means the more you have to pay for high level SA’s. This is just an edge that will add another check box into the column to pick a GEORGIA school. You can go down the rabbit hole all you want, but this bill was proposed to keep up with what other schools are doing with NIL collectives (tOSU, Texas, etc), not to hold down GT.

That’s exactly how our world works here in Georgia.

And da Bretts Key toos!!!!!

Just proposed thus far. here is a non paywall article.

Obviously being proposed by a uga grad. Check out this quote from the article.

Well, at least they are thinking of Brett Keys as well as Kirby....
And he obviously doesn't even know the Tech coach's name. WOW

Dumb law..it's income just like all other Georgians have incomes so why not tax it? If we are going to have football coaches influencing legislation I submit that we are indeed a failing nation

The argument is that income tax on NIL creates a disadvantage for GA over other states. Of course the same could be said for engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, doctors, etc. The logical solution is no income tax for anyone in Georgia.
