A friend of mine told me that Paul Johnson said in a news conference today that we would be doing a lot of no huddle this season. Can anyone confirm?

I have NOT heard that. I would love to hear some confirmation. I didn't think PJ ran no huddle very often at his other schools.

The only thing I saw was a comment that they did some in a 1 minute drill. It wasn't clear that it's something we intend to do much (or any) of in real game action or not.

Nah, not exactly. He said the offense was running the no huddle in practice in the context of getting the defense prepared for what they will see in games.

well, if you score a lot on the first play of the drive, there won't be a lot of huddles.

Hence, a "no huddle" offense.

GO JACKETS!!

I can't imagine that Johnson would use the No Huddle extensively. It seems that he runs the calls in from the sidelines on every play with either an A-Back or a WR. To keep them fresh and I assume to make sure there are no miscommunications. Not sure how he would call the plays in for a no-huddle situation.

Maybe he feels comfortable enough letting Josh make the calls...but I just don't see it. Maybe in certain circumstances.

With the stable of offensive weapons we have, I wouldn't be surprised to see some NH. If we were to do some rotation of backs for each series, we stay fresh the whole game while the defense wears out chasing them!

On defense hurt by facing option offense
“The only time our defense saw our offense yesterday was in the one
minute drill and they were not too worried about the option. We were
throwing the ball and no huddle just like they will see on Saturday. If
you look at the statistics, it will be pretty easy to prove it is not
true, we ran the option last season, I do not think the defensive stats
fell off at all....(etc)

So we ran no huddle during the 1 minute drill. Unsurprising.

We really had no time at all, but a more effective no huddle might have helped during the bull crap that was the final minute of the VATech game. I'm pretty sure we got the ball back with what, 30 seconds left?

I've said this before, GSU usta run some what of an on-off-on no huddle where we would call in two plays at a time but it was not the typical run to the line, let the coach read the D, make a play call, then execute style.

If Josh hadn't just overthrown Roddy we wouldn't be worried about any of that stuff anyway. If you make plays, all the "what ifs" go away.

Catching the wide open TD pass would have helped as well.

I'd bee a little surprised if CPJ were to run the no huddle quite frankly. Just doesn't seem to fit his style, imo. I could bee wrong.
