O.K. ... bordering on a menial post! Are there restrictions regarding noise supplement devices? If so, what are they?

VT uses car keys to create more noise during (and at crucial times) games. We all know Blacksburg is a hell of a place to play. What, if anything, can we do to up the sound levels at Bobby Dodd. Yelling is great, but can we develop some additional, stadium-wide noise technique that is within the codes?

What can be done that would make impact a huge impact, create a psychological edge (home field advantage), and make opponents/ fans dread coming to our historic venue? What say you?

I'm against that, could you imagine the noise in BDS if the Tech fans had cowbells.:laugher::biggthumpup:

Play that video of Chan Gailey telling people not to drink and drive. That always created a lot of noise.

:laugher:

There is an NCAA restriction on artificial noisemakers, thank god. We don't need every stadium passing out THUNDERSTICKS, one of the most annoying things about pro games.

Amateur Hour Suggestion: Pipe crowd noise through the sound system?

That only works if it's not a Mississippi State game!:laugher::wow:

ill bring about 1000 of the mega kazoos that could be heard during the Confederations Cup soccer tournament that are actually called "vuvuzelas"

This might be BuzzCzar at some home games..

I say we should starting throwing fish and liquor bottles at our opponents. Worked against the Irish in '78.

Czar,

You bring a few vuvuzelas, I will blow it during the game and get my boys to do so as well! :) Damn those things were annoying! I could see Wes griping about those things, just like the football announcers were doing during the Confed cup.

I remember hearing Joe Montana saying the reason ND put 59 points on GT in 1977 was having frozen fish thrown at them before and after the 1976 game at Grant Field. Wow,that must have really been intimidating coming off the bus to that!:wow:

We used to have those as kids in Atlanta and used them at Braves games.

As to how to get BDS louder, this is easy:

GET RID OF THE CLUB SEATS! BDS used to be the loudest in the ACC, now it's in the bottom half.

Upper East stands get pretty loud as there is a group that bangs on their bleachers. They also have a little chant every so often.
We try to get loud in Lower East, but it would really help if we did so in the club seats as the visiting team bench is right there. It may be a function of age, though. If students still sat there, it would be louder.
I don't know about West stands, though, they seem pretty quiet, but it could just be I am on the other side and can't hear them.

That was the nail in Chan's coffin. Laying an egg on national TV with Big Boi playing at half time, and then getting booed out of the stadium by his own fans after his mug went up on the big screen. Radikovich knew he'd lost us all.

I came home from that and guaranteed we'd fire Chan that year even if he won 7 games, and won a bottle of whiskey from someone (Kirbee?) on the bet.

Still haven't collected. Hrmm.
