i put a lot of stock into talent evaluations, no doubt. but more than stars, i like to look at the other offers that the kids had as well. a 4* with smaller school offers (ex. Art Forst out of NJ) isn't as intriguing to me as a 2* with elite offers (ex. OL Alex Hurst out of TN this year). but, i AM assuming that these kids are maturing and being developed. Wheeler was a scout 2* and a rivals 3* (again, proving rivals was more correct).... he has, however, performed like a 4*. you always have exceptions to the rule like Wheeler, but in general, rankings are a pretty good judgement of talent.... just look at USC -- they reel in the 4/5* guys and they are always in the top 3.
ND doesn't have any 5* LB's... or any 4* LB's for that matter. in fact, their highest recruited LBs on the depth chart (Crum and Toryan Smith) were both 3*. they have a couple of 4* freshmen, but they are freshmen and wont have an impact until later in the season (if any at all). that's why i said GT is far more talented at LB than ND.
