Exactly how does it "harm" GT? If there's any harm being done GT by "message boards" it is done right here, where folks spew venom at both the team and one another. Is that a bad thing? I'm not making any comment on that one way or the other. The board moderators/owners have chosen to allow that behavior and therefore have accepted both the good and the bad consequences of that decision. Hat's off to them.

Honestly I don't think "harm" is done GT by people venting, and that's exactly what is happening. But don't think for one second that it "helps" GT either.

Again, that's just my opinion. I will point out, however one thing that most people fail to realize about posting on The Hive. Nobody was EVER banned and no post was ever yanked because a moderator or board owner didn't like what the person was saying. Never. Not ever. Not even once. The only time things were ever pulled or people ever banned was because of the WAY in which they expressed themselves or because they attacked players. Use of profanity and personal attacks on other posters got people banned and posts pulled. That's not opinion, that's fact. So at least get that part right. You may choose not to believe that, but it's the truth.

And no, I don't own The Hive.

why don't you go back to the Hive. Oh I forgot, the manager of that board took their ball and went home.

This is the way The Hive works. It is one person's toy. He has a few close friends who can play with it whenever they want. He pretends to let other people play, too, so he can get them accustomed to it and then, presto, show he's a big man by kicking them off for virtually any reason he chooses... sorry, but that's true... or, when he really wants to be Superman, close it down because of what they might say! Wow, how in keeping with everything American. It reminds me of Joseph Goebbels.

The truth is that if he'd left it open, the people who said what they thought would have been drowned out by the people who'd rather lose than criticize, and the storm would have passed. Now, even if he waits until Easter to reopen it, he's still gonna get a blast. What's he thinking... "let's keep it closed till after the Georgia game, when everybody will be real calm." Yea, right.

THIS IS A LOAD OF CRAP!

JOJATK is absolutely correct. RR did not and will not let the Hive devolve into a dawg vent. EVERYONE is permitted to state their opinions as long as it done without rancor towards our Student Athlete (he rightly allows NO critism of them) and without obsenity. Simply show respect and be polite to the others on the board and you can say what you will. I've observed that RR is very even-handed in his moderating of the board and yes, he's reprimanded me on a coupla occasions. No, I don't know him personally. If you don't like how RR runs his personal message board - stay away. It don't speak much of y'all to be running down the Hive and the man that runs it at no cost to you on another board!

Hooray to both the Hive and Stingtalk!

JOJATK has always been fair in his posts and I respect his opinions.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Why don't you ask the UF fans?

RR has every right to manage the Hive the way he does. Venom, name calling, and obsenities about OUR school and the SA's is never okay!!!

My first post here, so go easy. Regret that any board is shut down. AJC will report it because for anyone in the journalism field the appearance of selective reporting or limiting free expression raises concerns, **even with private orgs** like The Hive. I personally think closing the board sends the wrong message too. Win or lose -- show the posts.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Yep, you nailed it. Keeping the board open and getting rid of the posts that cross the line attacking student athletes and you "create" a much less stink than by giving the local paper a situation that becomes a story when it should not.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Steps are being taken in that direction.

Don't worry about the Hive so much. There are
more pressing matters, like our lack of scoring
last night...

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I'm quite certain that that was not the ONLY reason you might have been banned from posting.

What exactly is your point, that you need to come over here and tell us what is an 'appropriate' post now that the Hive is down?

If there's any harm being done GT by "message boards" it is done right here, where folks spew venom at both the team and one another.
