Of course we ARE headed for a long season, A long and sometimes miserable season. Only the Pollyannas among us could possibly envision otherwise. But none of us would choose to go back to Chan, would we? If changing a program like what ours had become into a Top Ten team were as simple as hiring Paul Johnson, then Duke, Ole Miss, Iowa Sate, or hell even Georgia Tech would be in a BCS bowl next year. We will struggle--not because Trey Dunmon quit the team--but because we are exorcising demons here. Years worth of demons. Buckle your seat belt. It will be a rough ride.Anybody else worried about it? If we cant block we cant give nesbitt time to do anything. This means we will be in for a long season. I really hope some of the freshman come in and play well

We will all talk about this come November. Certainly I could be wrong. I don't foresee a return to the Bill Lewis years, but there are Tech posters on this board and elsewhere that think we are cruising toward a ten win year. We will play the games and we will see who is more accurate. I firmly believe we have improved the program long term, even though I think this year---and maybe 2009 as well--will be very tough. This is not and has never been a case of us having a good team that only needed to be tweeked by adding a better coach and better leadership. The selection of Paul Johnson, by the people we have entrusted to steer the program in the best interests of all of us, was a committment to wiping away what was and building something new and fundamentally different. That process is underway but will in no way be completed by Labor Day. Do you think so?i think you are WAY off!!! our recruiting improved, our link to GA high schools improved, our standards went up and we didnt have a losing season, which we have had many times since i came to Tech and we went 1-10 with B*** L****.
Gailey was not the answer, but he didnt ruin anything. in fact, our links to the NFL got a lot stronger. i think Chan helped Tech in that many more of our players will get a CHANce in the NFL, based on the players that got signed because Chan gave teams the "all clear" on certain players that are now on NFL rosters.. think what you will, i know many think Chan was really bad, but i think he did a decent job and definitely got some coaching talent here

I think 7 wins, but we will steadily improve throughout the year. But like Knoxjacket, I think it will be close.
Wins from this group 2.9: Duke, Jax St., G-W
Wins from this group 2.2: Miami, Miss St, FSU
Wins from this group 1.1: UVa, BC, UNC
Wins from this group 0.5: UGa, Clem, VT
Total wins 6.8 (so 6 or 7 wins). If I had to guess, they would be Duke, Jax, G-W, Miami, FSU, UNC, and Miss St. 4-4 ACC, 7-5 overall.
I think the 2.2 out of Miami, Miss. St., and FSU is aggressive...I would give it 1.25 to 1.50.
The others look good.
MSU and FSU have no quarterback therefore no offense.I think the 2.2 out of Miami, Miss. St., and FSU is aggressive...I would give it 1.25 to 1.50.

Dunman is not going to break the oline next year. He had a bad attitude. I thought he was a better player than Tums and got dissed by his own coach in Gailey. Don't understand why he wants to leave. bye.
I think the FSU and Miami defenses won't be disciplined enough to stop the Wreckbone. They will try to rely on their team speed and it will burn them. I think Miss St will be a defensive struggle.
I agree completely that in the long run FSU and Miami would not have the discipline to defend PJ's offense.
However, based on efficiency thus far a defense will not have to stop us because we put it on the rug every other possession.
It will get worked out...it is just a matter of when will it get worked out.
Miami is our 10th or 11th game. The offense will be working by then.
I am also confident that our O will be better than FSU at putting up points by mid-season.
I think a big reason for our spring game woes was that Nesbitt was out for 1.5 weeks.
I think the 2.2 out of Miami, Miss. St., and FSU is aggressive...I would give it 1.25 to 1.50.

Everyone is hopping on the UNC bandwagon this year, and I'm not totally sure why just yet.
