Due to some complications, we had to drive up to the game on Saturday morning. Luckily, it’s an easy drive from Atlanta - second only to Clemson on ease of access? So that’s a plus for having them as a permanent rival until the schedule gets redone again in a few months.

$30 for parking in the coliseum lot hurts a little, but it’s close to the stadium.

The stadium is nice and looks new for the most part. Decent place to watch a game. Needs more concession stands in addition to the food trucks, though.

Weather probably kept some people away - the place was like half full and emptied out as the second half went on. It rained, but not hard enough to matter. And we got a rainbow and a nice sunset.

Their sound system was good and not used in an annoying way. Tech should take notes. Pretty good video board with replays - I like the ref’s-eye view of replay reviews.

TV timeout before and after a kickoff is terrible. Shame on the CW for that.

The game from the stands kind of felt like half a loss. There were bright spots, but overall it was a little discouraging to me. The team didn’t seem fired up about it, either. They mostly slinked to the locker room with their heads hung after the game instead of singing with the fans and band.

It was good to have a band - Wake’s band was nonexistent during the game. We were totally discombobulated at times, though, stopping Bud in the middle. Didn’t play Horse either.

Traffic plan after the game was, like Ole Miss, “well, you can’t go this way but good luck!” We found the interstate after a brief tour of the back side of W-S. Luckily, everybody had already left, so there wasn’t much traffic to deal with.

The second half in particular seemed like a grind - the first was pretty fun after the first couple of series.

D-line play and blitzes were nice to see; secondary play was hit and miss but the ints were nice.

Run game was rough. Tight ends made a play or two, I think.

We still seem very injury-prone. Lots of guys getting dinged.

The penalty situation was ridiculous. Some were deserved, some were bogus (tripping on a fallen receiver - pass interference!). Don’t mind a few “get mean” defensive penalties, although the PF on the 3rd and 20 was frustrating.

I like these 6:30 kicks a lot. Late enough but not too late. Give us more of those!

The facemask penalty on Kennard was one of those stick your hand out to make a play and it happens to catch the facemask. Pretty random, but still a penalty. Yes, frustrating. I have no problem with calls like that, frustrating as it was. They just happen sometimes. The ticky-tack PI call on us that you reference, compared to the non-call on the push-off by their TE is what infuriates me. Both critical calls at critical times in Wake's favor.

This video posted on FB and copied to Google Drive to post here. If this doesn't work, let me know, and I will try to find another way to send it

Looks like you were sitting g close to one of my tailgate crew.

Hard to tell on tv, was their secondary taking away everything downfield in 2nd half? More runs and screens than I would’ve expected, assumed the deep routes just weren’t there.

First time getting to WF, I was impressed with the production of the game on their part, integration of audio and video with the game, though it did seem to come at expense of their band.

I learned the WF stadium and VT’s stadium are the same, or at least they were when built (VT has obviously expanded more).

First trip to Wake. Overall, good experience. Love their stadium and think we could benefit from downsizing......maybe take out the upper north. Very embarrassing to see 30k in a 55k stadium. Game was a grind. No offensive continuity. We need an additional RB that is effective. Kudos to the defense for keeping us in this one.

There is not a single damn reason to downsize a ööööing thing. If you are somehow embarrassed, and want a Harvard sized stadium, get the hell over it.

Wake has won 8+ games something like 5 of the last 7 years, including an 11 win season in 2021. 19 wins in the last two seasons. Meanwhile GT has literally hit a historic low rock bottom over the same time period.

Other than outlying corners, we had pretty good attendance in the early 2000s and continuing though all but the last few Johnson years. The team was good, the matchups were mostly interesting, and the ACC was doing pretty well. Then we took a dive, we sucked so nothing was interesting, and the ACC got bad outside of Clemson. That’s a recipe for empty seats.

Most places have some empty corners and high seats.

This is a pretty good place to watch football, unless there is a fair next door. I wanted to get tickets, but the game was listed as sold out. And, well, the weather was crappy anyway. But a great win.

This was my first trip to Wake, and I really enjoyed it for the most-part. They (like us) played their music WAY too loud through the PA system. Otherwise, I was a fan and would definitely go back.

Yes. They’ve been selling naming rights for a while, but it’s same place.

I remember when Nesbitt, Dwyer, etc. were all playing in the first few years of CPJ, our stadium was packed. The GT/VT 'turnt up' game was lit. The place was rocking. We start winning again and pummeling opponents, you'll see the GT crowds again.

I was in school during that stretch, so am very biased in my opinion of what GT football can and should be. The stadium was full for every decent matchup, and Bobby Dodd was extremely loud. I remember a quote from a VT player saying it was the loudest stadium they played in during his time at VT. Win and we’ll get back there. I can’t wait.
