Atlanta United entered a brand new market where people were already interested in soccer but didn’t quite have any allegiances. So they filled that demand. Then they went ahead and also won the biggest trophy in their league in their inaugural year. There’s no such thing as becoming Atlanta’s team when it comes to cfb because cfb is not a brand new market, it’s over a century old and most people who watch it already have their allegiances. The only way you build your fanbase up in CFB is to make it interesting, appealing to your students and win games. Money needs to be spent on buying a great coaching staff as well as players, also you need to create an amazing game day experience for your students and your other fans. It has to be a fun place to go to. We have none of these things at Tech. It’s a terrible experience for students and fans, the team sucks on the field, and rather than focusing on building on tradition and brand recognition, we do stupid öööö like put 404 signs on blue jerseys like anybody in Atlanta gives a öööö. And then we ask stupid questions like why can’t we be Atlanta’s team, or we say stupid things like oh let’s go to big10, they’ll want us for the Atlanta market. News flash, we’re not Atlanta’s team and we don’t own Atlanta market, maybe we own 30% of East Cobb. Things are a lot simpler than they’re made to be.
